    2. I'm in the process of making copies of the pages of this very fragile book. As I make these, I see that I have not included all of the names in my reply to the first inquiry. I will go over all of them and include those that I left out earlier. Nancy

The charge was $1.00. I had only the marriage date from the index plus of course the names of the individuals. The response was very prompt - return mail, as I recall. If you feel doubtful about how to proceed why not just call the Clerk's office? They are very nice.

    2. I looked in the "yellow pages" on the internet for the phone number for the McNairy Co., Courthouse. I then called the county clerk's office. She was very helpful. I sent the required amount of money (it was nominal), and in a few days had the marriage certificate. Myra

    3. I am trying to obtain a marriage certificate for my g-grandparents - married Jan 28, 1861 - and although I sent money to the TN State Library and Archives, all I received was copies of listings from Sistlers books with no explanation whatsoever. So now, I want to try requesting from the county but cannot find any guidlines on requesting records from McNairy County. Does anyone know how much money I should include in my letter to get a copy of a marriage certificate? I'd appreciate any help I can get... Thanks Sharon

From the "hen scratch" I made on my notes, I called the County Clerk's Office at 615-741-2764. I mailed them $5.00. Like I say, I'm not sure about this information. I did this about thrree years ago.
