    2. Civil War pension records should/might have the record of the marriage of the veteran. I found my ancestor's marriage date and his wife's maiden name in his Orphan's pension records. There was 28 pages of details of their life & children. Also, deeds will tell who wife, husband, children & their spouses are. Julia Cooper

    3. Hello Sue, I found the following on Noah Davis: Soldier Name: Davis, Noah Side: Confederate Function: Infantry Regiment: 27th Regiment, Name: Tennessee Infantry 27th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry 27th Infantry Regiment [also called 25th Regiment] was assembled at Camp Trenton, Tennessee, in September, 1861. Its 833 men were from the counties of Benton, McNairy, Obion, Henderson, Decatur, Crockett, Weakley, and Carroll. It was furnished arms at Columbus, Kentucky, then fought at Shiloh, Munfordville, and Perryville. The unit was assigned to General Maney's Brigade, Army of Tennessee, and in December, 1862, consolidated with the 1st Volunteers. It participated in many conflicts from Murfreesboro to Atlanta, endured Hood's winter operations, and ended the war in North Carolina attached to Palmer's Brigade. This regiment totaled 580 effectives in December, 1861, and lost fifty-four percent of the 350 at Shiloh and fifty-three percent of the 210 at Perryville. The 1st/27th had 83 casualties of the 457 at Murfreesboro, reported 14 killed and 75 wounded at Chickamauga, and in December, 1863, totaled 456 men and 290 arms. Only a remnant surrendered on April 26, 1865. Its commanders were Colonels Blackburn H. Brown, Alexander W. Caldwell, and Christopher H. Williams; Lieutenant Colonel William Frierson; and Majors Alexander C. Allen, Samuel T. Love, and John M. Taylor. 2. You may want to try ebay for the items you want to replace. I just signed on, and in the area where it asks "what are you looking for", I typed in Civil War. It says there are over 6000 items related to the Civil War. I've never brought anything from the site, but am amazed at the things they have, and most items have a photo. >From time to time, I type in "McNairy", and theres always a few items about McNairy County. 3. Hello List - Do any of you who live in McNairy Co. know of an antique or other type of store that might have artifacts from the Civil War. My husband was born on his great-grandfather's 90th birthday and named for him. All of the items saved - sword, uniform, etc. - were burned in a house fire and I would really like to be able to find something similar . Is there any source that I might contact, particularly by email, but also by snail mail if necessary. I would appreciate any help. Not quite genealogy, but at least family oriented.
