We have Elisha Dancer and Elijah Dancer. Eliff gets close. I would guess it was Elisha Dancer, son of Elijah. I'll have to think about Gann. It does not ring any bells right now. Could it be Sam? Elijah Dancer of McNairy had one son whose name we do not know. There was a James, son of Samuel, who could have served. The family story says that 2 sons of Samuel fought for the North. We don't know who they were. Samuel Dennis Dancer was on the way to enlist for the South when he was captured by the North. They paroled him and he honored the parole. Jonas F. Dancer, son of Samuel, could have served although we don't have a record. W. J. was a son of John Dancer who was a son of old Elijah Dancer. John was killed in the period after the war by outlaws. The story goes that he was killed in AR when the family was moving to the area. His widow and sons are in TN in 1880 so I guess there is a chance he was killed in TN. John Dancer m Frances Combs 26 July 1844 in Benton Co, TN. He had a son, Samuel Dickson b Jan 1852, who may have served although he would have been very young. Thanks for looking. This is very interesting. This is my first post on this list. I am looking for any information on the Phillips of McNairy County. As I understand the facts, William Phillips married Lucinda Ellis about 1848 in Milledgeville. I found one listing of William C., but I was also told he was William George or Dock. Whichever he was, he was my great, great grandfather. He was born about 1829 and died about 1895. He is buried in Parker County, Texas. Apparently, his son William Young Phillips was born in 1861. He married Flora Tennessee Mithchell sometime between 1885 and 1894 and all of them moved to Parker County, where both Williams died. Can anyone fill in any blanks or supply any information prior to them? Royce Phillips Iowa

These top-quality images represent a more true-to-life depiction of the records and are in most cases better than the original in readability. Ancestry.com's Images Online are scanned in 256 shades of gray to allow for variations in tone, as opposed to the less expensive method of bi-tonal technologies used by competitors. The entire set of U.S. Federal Censuses is expected to be online by spring 2001. A year's access to these images will only cost current Ancestry.com members an additional $39.95, as opposed to competitive offerings that in recent interviews quoted impending subscription costs at as much as $99! In other words, for $99.90 ($59.95 regular subscription + $39.95 Images Online subscription)--which is the price competitors are charging for census only--Ancestry.com members will get access to the census Images Online in better form, plus access to all of Ancestry.com's other offerings. These offerings include such landmark databases as the "PERiodical Source Index (PERSI)," the Biography and Genealogical Master Index (BGMI), the American Genealogical- Biographical Index (AGBI), the 1890 Census Reconstruction Project, the Civil War Research Database, and Slave Narratives, just to name a few. But that's not all. Ancestry.com has been adding databases at a record-breaking pace and is on target to have more than 1 BILLION records online by the end of the year. Recent additions include: --- "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33" (see a sample entry at: http://www.ancestry.com/library/view/news/articles/2071.asp) --- The New York City police census of 1890 --- 1910 Miracode indexes for Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Virginia --- Statewide vital records indexes for a growing number of states --- New York's naturalization petition index of 1907-24 --- Iowa cemeteries --- And much more!
Yes..what information is requested Bud Pylant ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sara" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 06, 2000 9:55 AM Subject: [TNMCNAIR] Chambers, Emmons, Hagy > I am looking for a Patie Emmons or Chambers who was listed on the 1910 census living with William Wesley Emmons and Lina Ann Hopkins and listed as a child. Listed also were her four children Chambers b. 1902, Frank b 1904, Ernest b 1906 and Mamie b 1908.I have received info that says she was a Chambers, not an Emmons. The area where the Emmons lived was on Race Path Road, and there were also a Hagy family and a Chambers family. I believe the Chambers was Robert father of Jim Chambers. This Patie was born in 1884. > Anyone know of these families? > Sara Norris >
