I installed windows 98 2nd edition and found one of my two hard drives was getting ready to go out. It is still under warranty, and I am reduced to a small hard drive and CD-Writer till then. 1. [TNMCNAIR] Need help with photos
    2. List members, I need to ask for help from those who live in McNairy, who may be able to identify some photos. Mary Hudson has posted three pictures to the McNairy site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnmcnair/homestead/homesteads.htm The pictures are some that I took back in the early 1980's. I had made a trip from California to Memphis, and went over to McNairy. I contacted a cousin, Hugh Woods, whom I've heard is now deceased, and he drove me all over. We stopped at these places that were the homes of some of my ancestors. I believe these places are in either Selmer or Bethel Springs. The possibilities of which ancestors lived in each home would be either Richard Horn, Daniel Reeder Cothran, John Henry Woods, or William Henry Woods. I know that there's a real good chance that these places are no longer even standing. I'd like to know because my sister and I are planning a trip to McNairy from California in April or May, and I'd love to take her to these locations. The problem is that I have no idea how to find them again. The feeling of standing in your ancestors homes (even with 4 foot weeds growing through the planks of the floor) is unbelievable. If you could take a quick look, and contact me if you may know their locations, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance Lois Rodgers [email protected]

    1. Re: [TNMCNAIR] Barnes/Birchetts/Burchetts in McNairy
    2. Bertie B.Dancer
    3. Randall, I've been trying to find all my Barnes information and get my head straight on the Barnes family. I'm not sure that is possible. (:>) Old Dennis Barnes was in South Carolina in 1800. He is believed to have come into TN about 1806/7. He is believed to be the father of Nancy Barnes, wife of Samuel Dancer. Nancy was b 1800 SC and is listed as Nancy Dancer in a book listing SC born persons living in 1850 along the Natchez Trace. It is not known how many times old Dennis Barnes was married but more than twice I believe. There was a son, Dennis Barnes, who lived in Tishomingo Co, MS. I found old Dennis in Tishomingo Co in 1840 I think, but I believe he went back to Benton Co, TN and died there. I'm not sure of the dates. I have not located the papers on the estate settlement of Jesse Barnes in Benton Co, TN. They are here somewhere and I will find them. I'm sorry to make you wait like this. Happy hunting! Have a very Happy New Year! 2. Can anyone tell me if there is a place on the web to ask about lost relatives besides the surname pages? These would be "dead" people of course. Julia Cooper
