    1. Purdy interest - a forwarded message
    2. Mary Hudson
    3. I was interested in the history of Purdy, TN because a relative of mine was Pugh Houston Thrasher who laid out the town of Selmer. I have an article in a genealogy of my family about this event. Pugh Houston Thrasher married Mary Eliza Howard, daughter of Willilam Howard and Elizabeth Ann Jolly Lucus Howard. Howard is my mother's line. Jerry Kelly [email protected] Mary Hudson [email protected]

    2. Can anyone help me find anything on Benjamin Anderson who married Prudence Kemp, her father was Nathan Kemp, in, I believe, the 1820s. Was his father "Aaron" or Archie? Where did his father come from? Benjamin was born 1805, but I'm not sure who his father was. He, Benjamin, is listed in the 1830 census. Thanks, Ray Anderson Durham, NC

    3. I notice on the McNairy Co. site there are two places to post and read Queries. One is at the Search This Site portion, and the other is at the bottom of the page a Gen Connect Site both appear to be currently in use. Should I continue to post on both board for the same Co., at the same site? I'm a little confused, but thats not nothing new. Mary, You may wish to add to the community names Cotton Ridge According to Deed Book H, Page 307 " For cash in hand at Cotton Ridge in McNairy County, Aug 2 1860, J.P. 3. Big Art: In the OCCUPANT AND REVOLUTIONARY WAR LAND GRANTS AND CLAIMS STARTING WITH 1824, I found John Shults, (No. 455) granted 25 acres in McNairy County, 9th district, 4th range & 4th section, on June 30, 1826. Same book: David Shults, (No. 456) granted 25 acres in McNairy County, 9th district, 4th range and 4th section, on June 24, 1826. Same book: Nathan Kemp, (No. 571) granted 25 acres in Mcnairy County, 9th district, 4th range, 4th section, on June 30, 1826. Same book: Joseph Kemp, (No. 458) granted 25 acres in McNairy County, 9th district, 4th range & 4th section, on June 24, 1826. Four of Nathan Kemp's children married Shults(z)(e), one being Joseph Kemp. My hunch is that these Shults(z)(e) were closely related and migrated to McNairy County together. These are the Shults(z) I find in McNairy County Census: 1830- David Shultz David Shoultz John Shoultz 1840- Henry Shults Jacob Shults Squire Shults 1850 - Henry Shultz James Shultz I appreciate any information on the Shultz line. 1. Re: [TNMCNAIR] Shults(z)
    2. Jane, thanks for your info. on Shults(z). None of the people you mentioned are shown in the 1850 census as being the children of Henry and Rebecca. They must be descendants from some of the other Shults(z) that were in McNairy around that time. I don't have anything on them. In that respect, I have been told that several Shults(z) were given land grants in McNairy in the early 1800s but I can't find anything on that. Do you have any information? Art
