McNairy is a " poke and plumb town" you poke your head out the window and you plumb done missed it. We have no marriage records before 1861. Purdy was the county deat until about 1890 then it moved to Selmer. Hi List, I am wondering if the town McNairy, is the county seat for McNairy Co.? I would so much appreciate if anyone has the time for me.....to look up a Marriage Record or a Marriage Bond on a James A. Ross and Charity Jane Baze. They were married in McNairy Co. Tn. on Aug. 28, 1841 by Justice of the Peace George Adams. These were my 3rd Gr.Grandparents...and I know I will never be able to come to Mcnairy Co. to do any searching...and if anyone could find this for me...I will pay for copies or let me know where I can write to send for them through snail mail. I would love to find this piece of documentation. This would be appreciated so very much. Thanks and God Bless!! Debra __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Need lookup for a marriage for Maggie Mae STREETMAN to a "Willie"?? Smith circa 1920 to 1930. She lived in Burnsville, MS and she eloped with Willie Smith. I believe they married out of state. Thanks, Will ================================= My online Civil War gallery at Camp Chase Gazette http://www.campchase.com/WillSmith.htm My homepage: http://web.infoave.net/~wolfman
http://www.cem.va.gov actually you can short cut the home page: http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/j2ee/servlet/NGL_v1 This site now has a search engine for persons buried in veterans cemeteries. It will be a slow go for several days as their servers must be maxed out with requests. I'm sure it will be better after the publicity calms down. For your information, this site does not include all veteran burial sites. Corinth National Veteran's Cemetery is included. Shiloh National Military Cemetery is not. So, it is only those cemeteries under the direction of the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs and some state veteran's cemeteries. Shiloh is part of the NPS. It can be found at http://www.nps.gov/shil/ If you decide to try the pages in the next few weeks, be prepared to wait and wait, even with a high speed connection. It reminds me of the first days of the Ellis Island database. This is the information you will get. It helped me because his service records cannot be located and I did not have any dates related to his service in WWI, except for letters he wrote. I note here that the date of interment is incorrect. He died during summer training for the Corinth National Guard at Camp Beauregard near Alexandria, LA. on the 20th but was buried in Corinth on Sunday the 22nd. Have no idea why the data is incorrect. Just be aware of the possibility.
