Would like to contact any researcher of Thomas Lesly (1760-1839)/ Nancy (Harris) Lesly who moved to McMinn County, TN in 1818/1819 from the Pendleton District (Old 96) SC. Tom was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and fought at the battle of the Cowpens - he fought under Gen Andrew Pickens for 2 years, 7 months and was present when the brother, Captain Joseph Pickens was mortally wounded at the Seige of 96 - their families were neighbors in the Abbeville District, SC - Tom later moved into the Pendleton District. Tom and Nancy came to TN with 4 adult children - James, Samuel, Thomas III, and Mary Ann. Some of the other 11 children stayed behind in SC when the rest migrated to TN. Many of the Leslie's were born in Jalapa - not sure what that would be today or even if it still exists. I am trying to find where Thomas is buried - I think it is Sink Presbyterian Cemetary where some of his children are buried (James, Thomas III), I have not been able to find the grave site. He is entitled to a government marker for his service in the american revolution - not too many of those in McMinn County. Tom was friends with Magness Tullock, who witnessed his pension application in August 1832. They apparently were friends from the Abbeville days. David Leslie Garland, TX
