And will they ever talk your head off. They may want to call you. I recall speaking with you but I don't think we got in-depth with these Davis'es. Rual is the one who got me started on them and I'll tell you that I am mighty grateful that you had the info. Nancy Ellen Raper is the dtr of John Stafford Raper and Mary Ann Robinson of Monroe Co. She was born 20 Jan 1846, died 3 October 1890. Both she and JT are buried at Carlock Cemetery just south of Etowah. He married mollie in 1891 and died in 1898. She chose to have him buried next to Nancy. She is buried at Coghill Baptist Church. Do you need info on children? If so let me know and I'll get it for you. I also have the funeral home record of Mollies death. Not much on it but you can have a copy if you want. Mollie raised Bessie who was the dtr of Fannie. Fannie (Francis E.) was Mollies younger sister who passed when Bessie was abt 2 yrs. Bessie married a Johnson and was mother to a McMinn Co Judge. I have pictures of Mollie, Bessie, Robert Abraham (Danes dad), Bettie Lee (Rual's mom) and others, if you want them and some data on the children. Bettie Lee married Lester Johnson. Barton Grace married Albert Strange Alloway. About all of Mollie's kids are at Coghill. Samuel P. Davis married Clara Rinda (Laura) Daugherty. This is about to get confusing perhaps. Sam and Laura had a dtr named Willie...we called her Aunt Bill (Davis). Aunt Bill was the neice of Nannie Kathleen Daugherty (sister to Laura) who married William Thomas Gaston. He was my great grandfather...son of James T. She just passed a year or so ago...a lovely lady with a mind like a steel trap. I have her picture too. For more confusion...Montana Elizabeth Daugherty...yet another sister, married James King Melton...they are also involved with the Davis'es somehow. Ethel Davis (I don't know who she is.) married Luther Melton the brother of James K. Melton. Rual and Dane both say there was a sister to Mollie and the rest who was named Sade or Sadie. Do you know anything about this? Sadie 1907 to 1992 married Poley O. Ross 1902 1963 and both are at Old Salem. The Bart Daugherty and Charlotte Hightower Daugherty at Coghill are parents to all the Daugherty's mentioned above. Only a true genealogist can understand this quagmire and I have complete confidence that you will *G*! Joyce, do you have a marriage date for Nancy Ellen Raper and J. T. Gaston? Here are the children I have: J. T. Gaston and Nancy Ellen Raper: 1. David Gaston 2. Ella Gaston 3. John Gaston 4. William Thomas Gaston 5. Oscar Gaston 6. Daisie Gaston I don't have any other information on the above children. J. T. Gaston and Mary (Mollie) R. Davis: 1. Fannie Mae Gaston, b. 12/7/1891, d. 3/4/1928, buried in Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery, married Quinn. [I don't know if that is a first or last name. I didn't find any Quinns listed for the Coghill Cemetery or a listing for Fannie.] 2. Bettie Lee Gaston, b. 11/30/1893, d. 4/25/1978, buried in Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery, married Albert Strange Alloway (4/30/1890-7/14/1940). 3. James Taylor Gaston, Jr., b. 7/27/1895, d. 8/13/1964, married Nell ???, buried in Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery. 4. Robert Abraham Gaston, b. 8/22/1897, d. 4/1/1957, married Martha E. ??? (8/17/1911-2/2/1954), buried in Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery. 5. Barton Grace Gaston (female), b. 7/22/1899, d. 12/27/1939, married Lester Johnson (11/3/1895-1/23/1982), buried in Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery. Most of this information came from the Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery listing in the McMinn Cemetery Book. Sade or Sadie, sister to Mollie, was Sarah Adeline Davis (my ancestor) who married William Edward Stephenson, Jr. I have a picture of Sadie and William Edward. The first time I ever saw the picture, I thought it was my grandmother, their daughter. My grandmother was the spitting image of her mother. The Sadie (1907-1992) who married Poley O. Ross couldn't have been a daughter of Robert Davis and Elizabeth Scroggins. Elizabeth would have been 71 when Sadie was born. I know that having change-of-life babies when women were in their fifties weren't uncommon. Several of my ancestors had them, but 71 is a bit old. Rual and Dane have mixed some generations. Any additions or corrections to the above information will be welcomed. Jean K.
