Hello List, I have just subscribed and would like to ask if anyone knows anything about my Stricklands. I am Steve Strickland son of William Roy. My line is: George W., b. 1830-36, John Robert, b. 1878, William McKinley, b. 1901, William Roy, b. 1924. All born is GA except me and Dad. We were born in East Etowah, McMinn, TN. George W. had, among others, two sons, Alexander S. and Lewallen, who left Gilmer County, GA, and moved into the Harriman, TN area sometime around 1885. We do not know where exactly so I am searching all of east, TN. A family story is that both brothers got jobs at the Brushy Mt State Pen and that BOTH were killed on the job! However, I can find NO evidence to support the story. Another family story is that one of the brothers had a son named Frank who operated a house of ill repute. My challenge is to find where these two brothers wound up and track their descendants to see if I can get some help to get over my brick wall which is George W. their father. Whew. Long sentence. Also, John Robert had a second marriage to Dora Lingerfelt. (Probably not her maiden name as she was said to have had a least one son.) John Robert died in 1952 while married to her. Does anyone have anything at all on the Lingerfelt family from around the McMinn area. Thank you all in advance for any help. Steve Strickland
