Samuel P. Carson McFall(s) Jr. & Sr. of McMinn County TN 1870 - 1902 These 2 men were my grandfather and great grandfather. I have found data on them in census information from 1870, 1880, reconstructured 1890 and 1900 TN census and my mother listed S. P. C. McFall as her father on her Social Security Application. There is also a Rootsweb World Family Tree, #2979, that shows the family of S. P. C. Sr. with his children. S. P. C. Jr. is listed there. But, unlike the other children, there is nothing shown of his life events. It does indicate that he married a woman whose name is different then my grandmother's. S. P. C. Sr's. children and their marriage partner are: Margaret Magdalene to William Newton STUART, Lillian to (?) BROCK, S. P. C. Jr. to Emily (?), Samantha to Charles E. WOODS, Nicholas H. to Matilda GERALDS, May I. to Hugh Ramsey GRIFFIN, William Edward died by gunshot, Liddie Armintie to Joseph Fred COBBLE, Lula Gracen to Samuel MOSES. I would appreciate any help I can get on learning more about Samuel P. Carson McFall(s) Jr's. life events. Henry mvjw58a@aol.com

Dear List Members, It is that time of year again when we suddenly will have an influx of new online genealogy enthusiasts with their holiday gift computers that are usually newer and faster than what many of the rest of us have. For a great many of them, it will be their first time online. Some of them will make mistakes and some may (will) unintentionally do things and write things that may be irritating to us and against what we have set up as our list rules. Please take this into consideration in advance and be helpful to them. If things get out of hand, know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problems. Just remember, one of these new members might hold the clue you have been searching for. Let us not discourage them before they have a chance to learn how this works. I would like also to take this time to wish each of you and yours a wonderful and safe Holiday Season. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

This Morning I informed you of a concern we all should have regarding protecting ourselves against BADTRANS worm, computer virus.. I would like to ask you now if you have any additional comments regarding the subject, you send them to me personally. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. Please do not post the names of those you feel you have received infected postings from or their e-mail address. If you received an infected posting from a member of any of the lists I take care of, most likely I did too and I am taking care of it behind the scenes. I thank you for your help with this and appreciate your support. Kathleen Burnett List Mom
Dear List Members We are experiencing another outbreak of the BADTRANS worm, computer virus. I've received over 25 messages with it myself this weekend. The subject line will be varied but the infected attachments have a double extension, for example .doc.pif or .doc.scr You can go to http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/ or http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/ to obtain more information. Please keep your anti virus software updated and DO NOT download unexpected attachments no matter who they are from or how tantalizing the subject line may be. "The Docs I Promised" just may be the virus. I apologize for breaking my own rule regarding Virus Warnings, but felt in this case it was important that you were aware. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

I found a Delos Strickland in the Social Security Death Index. He was born 10/17/1905 and died in October 1975. He died in Etowah, McMinn County, TN. I have an ancestor by the name of Delos Strickland born about 1817 that I'm trying to find. Since this isn't a very common name (or at least it isn't to me) I thought maybe this Delos was related to my line. I think his parents were Daniel Strickland and Esther Case but so far I haven't been able to document that. If anyone knows about this family I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks so much, Judy in California Searching AUSTIN, BIRDSALL, CASE, EAKIN, FRAZELL, HAVENS, LEIM, MCCLENNON, ROCHELLE, SIMINGTON, STRICKLAND, VANGELDER/VANGALDER
to Charles Ward, Historian of Mayflower Carpenters in McMinn TN: Do you know of any other descendents of the Carpenters who stayed in PA? I have a Mary Carpenter born 2/28/1825-10/19/1882, Pottstown, Montgomery Co, PA who married a Samuel LIGHTCAP in 1840's and had a son Dutton LIGHTCAP (1856-1942), dentist, who came to Talladega AL and became mayor of Columbiana, Shelby Co, AL. I have been trying to find her ancestors. There was a Samuel CARPENTER in Phila in the late 1700's, a surveyor and govt official in Phila. But I have not found anything to connect to Mary Ann CARPENTER. Thank you if you have anything from your history of any CARPENTERS in PA. In a message dated 11/22/1 4:56:35 AM, Kathleen Burnett <kathleenburnett@earthlink.net> wrote: <<"Who Attended the 1621 "First Thanksgiving?">> It may interest subscribers to learn that a descendant of four "Mayflower" passengers came to reside in McMinn County, Tennessee in the early 1850s. Hannah (Brown) Carpenter was born in Attleboro, MA and married the Reverend Timothy Carpenter, 1795, in Attleboro. She was a descendant of "Mayflower" passengers: John Howland, Elizabeth Tilley, John Tilley, and Joan (Hurst) Tilley. John and Joan (Hurst) Tilley died the first winter. Their daughter, Elizabeth Tielly, married John Howland years later. Both John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley were in attendance at the first Thanksgiving of the Pilgrims. Their daughter, Lydia Howland, married James Browne were ancestors of Hannah (Brown) Carpenter. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter was an itinerant Methodist minister ("circuit rider") who came to live in McMinn Co., TN with his youngest son, Cyril Carpenter, having been preceeded in the move by another son, the Reverend Dan Cappenter. The Reverend Timothy Carpenter and his wife, Hannah (Brown) Carpenter are buried at Tranquility Methodist Church Cemetery in McMinn Co., TN. Interestingly, Hannah (Brown) Carpenter was born before the American Revolution and lived to see the Civil War and Reconstructuion. I am a great-great-great-great grandson of the Reverend Timothy Carpenter and his wife, Hannah (Brown) Carpenter. For anyone wishing to learn more about this couple, I would suggest they consult my article, "Carpenter Descendants of John Howland in Tennessee," published in the February, 1995 issue of "The Mayflower Quarterly."
