I am researching the following family of my husband's. If you think you have a connection, I'd love to hear from you. This is how I have the family at this time. I am still checking into things as I do not believe the last two children are the natural children of James and Vesta, maybe grandchildren or niece and nephew. The hardest thing about this family is that it seems every one of them went by their middle name. Thank you. Dear List Members: The Holiday Season is over and I am back home again. I want to thank each of you for helping to keep our list running smoothly while I was spending Christmas with three of my children and their families in Delaware and Maryland. I had a wonderful time but came down the flu the day after Christmas which turned in to pneumonia so my week away from you turned into over two weeks. I am doing better, still weak and coughing but on the road to better heath. One other problem while I was away, I had downloaded a huge amount messages on my laptop while in Delaware and my laptop crashed. If you tried to send me a personal message from the 23rd to the 30th of December, I lost it and you will need to re-send. It is time again for your last Quarterly Report for 2001 as to the membership of the TNMCMINN Mailing List and additional items of interest. The TNMCMINN Mailing List has 153 members, 119 of these are subscribed to the Regular List and 34 to the Digest List. If you would like to visit the archived messages you may go to http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl and type in TNMCMINN. From there you can search by keyword. There is a great Rootsweb site you can go to if you want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of or need to unsubscribe from a list, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ I want to thank each of you for continuing to help make this list the success it is. I also want to thank you for your support of me and your willingness to follow the list rules. I have been a List Mom now since 1997 and truly feel I have the best List Members out there who have subscribed to the Mailing Lists I take care of for Rootsweb. Just a reminder so this list is better for each of us the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 2. If you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as the first message from a member says Says "Happy Birthday Joan" and then Joan says "Thank you" and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Joan". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. If you have a doubt ask me. KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 5. Please keep your Virus Scan updated as often as possible. If by chance one of our members unknowingly sends out a virus, please let me take care of it behind the scenes. Know that if you received it, I most likely did also. If you are concerned that I am not aware of the effected system, contact me personally KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net Please do not post to the entire list the name and e-mail address of the person you feel has the virus. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fuller's Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html I wish for each of you a success in the year 2002 with your most difficult genealogical mystery. Their daughter, Malinda Mansell married my GrGrGrandfather, Michael "Mike" Ziegler. I have some notes from a Mansell researcher from the 1970's that Martha's sister, Elizabeth Billingsley married Burrell Mansell's brother Robert Mansell. And that their father's name was Walter Billingsley and his father was James Billingsley. That James Billingsley was killed by the Tories in SC during the war. Also there was a James, Jr. mentioned, brother of Walter that was a Captain. I know that my Mansell's lived in Jackson and McMinn Co., TN. I'm not sure about the Billingsley's but according to a copy of a letter I have from an ancestor they lived in TN also. Thanks, P. Forister

I'm looking for Martha Mansell on the 1860, 1870 & 1880 census index for McMinn Co., TN. All I need are page numbers. Thank you, P. Forister
Hi, I have found in some of my things a copy someone gave me of an article written by a Durelle LeClair who was the staff writer of what paper and when I don't know. I am thinking maybe Athens, TN. Need to search for the original article. It goes on to say that there were some letters found in an attic (about 40 of them) from the Jerome (or Joram) Ziegler family. Jerome who married Annabelle on May 23, 1860. They had a son also named John Jerome Ziegler who was born ca. 1861. Does anyone know about this article and the letters? A Dr. Paul Haynie of Harding University in Searcy, Ark. was the one in possession of these and he was trying to find family members at that time, which I'm thinking was long ago. He was doing research on the Civil War at the time when some boys who found them gave them to him. He had 5 graduate students transcribing them. If anyone knows anything about this article or the letters, please let me know. If anyone is interested in the copy I have, I can scan it to you. It just doesn't have a date or name of the paper. I really believe it was the Athens newspaper since that is where the boys found the letters and where Dr. Haynie was trying to find relatives of this particular family but what year, I don't know. Thank you, P. Forister
Dear P. Forister, I share your McKenzie line. Elizabeth Mourning McKenzie was a daughter of Francis Marion "Frank" McKenzie and his wife, Amanda Ann (Wells) McKenzie. Hi, I'm researching the following surnames in McMinn Co., TN. Some lived in Jackson Co., TN also. My Ziegler was Burrell Mansell Ziegler son to Michael Ziegler and Malinda Mansell. Burrell married Elizabeth Morning McKenzie and they had my grandfather, Emmett L. Ziegler who was born in TN but they moved down to Jackson Co., Alabama in the early 1900's. Any information on these families are welcomed. I have other information and am now trying to go through and document my line. Thank you, P. Forister MANSELL (various spellings) BILLINGSLEY ZIEGLER (various spellings) MCKENZIE
