Hi all, new to list! Would be interested in connecting with anyone researching Johnston descendants of Maury Co, specifically Colonel Amos Johnston born ca 1722 in Dobbs (now Lenoir) Co NC, married Elizabeth Preston? in 1802 in Onslow Co NC with most if not all of their children being born in Columbia, Maury Co. Amos died June 1829 in Maury Co. Would love to know where he is buried and any further information, such as how he came to get the title of "Colonel"? Elizabeth married Lemuel Prewitt in 1831 in Maury Co. Children: Lewis S Johnston (1806-1861) - my ancestor Amos Randall Johnston (1810-??) Sara Eliza (Elizabeth) or Eliza C Johnston (ca 1811-??) Stephen W Johnston (ca 1812-??) Jacob N Johnston (1813-1894) Jesse M Johnston (ca 1815-1837) I have quite a bit of information on Lewis and Jacob (mostly census) but not much on any of the other children. It seems that after Amos died at least several of the children, along with their mother Elizabeth, moved to Monroe Co MS (ca 1834-1836), then on to TX ca 1850-1852. Looking forward to hearing you!
