    1. [TNMAURY-L] Re: Could Someone Do a 1830 and 1840 Maury County, Census Look-up
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0hB.2ACI/329.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Gail, The information in the ( )'s is an extraction or transcript of the white males and white females that appear on the original census page. You can transfer those numbers to a Census Extraction Form, to see the sex and ages of those persons enumerated within the household. If you don't have a Census Extraction Form, you can download one from this site (look for Census Extraction Forms within the Search>Census section)--all years are provided. You just plug the numbers into the form, working from left to right--males are to the left of the "-" and females to the right. Sometimes you will see several "-"'s in the string of numbers, which indicate not only a break between males and females, but also breaks between male slaves and female slaves. No information on slaves was given with the information I sent you. Below is the information I sent you, followed by a household breakdown: 1840 Maury Co., TN Borgus, William R., p. 336, Dist. 12 (0012000001-00001001) total of 6 white persons enumerated 1 male 10-15 yrs (1825-1830) 2 males 15-20 yrs (1820-1825) 1 male 70-80 yrs (1760-1770) 1 female 20-30 yrs (1810-1820) 1 female 50-60 (1780-1790) Borgus, Vincent, p. 310, Dist. 7 (11001-00002) total of 5 white persons enumerated 1 male under 5 yrs (1835-1840) 1 male 5-10 yrs (1830-1835) 1 male 20-30 yrs (1810-1820) 2 females 20-30 yrs.
