He was born in the Williamsburg colony of SC to John and Rebecca Irwin McBride WItherspoon in 1792, and he married Mary--- from Tennessee. I found his name on the Zion Presbyterian Church roster in Tennessee Cousins, as an early member of that congregation. I found a history of several who migrated there in two separate wagon trains: the first in March of 1805 and the other, a year later. I believe my Samuel was is the 2nd train. This total group would have settled in or near the area which had originally been a portion of General Nathanial Greene's land grant from the Revolutionary War. I have documentation on the rest of his life and a guestimate of his ancestry from my grandfather's genealogy research, but so far, have been unable to prove that the Samuel in Maury County who was a member of that church and who was a Road Supervisor, was,in fact, MY Samuel and not somebody else's. Thanks.
