Pat, Eva Meyer may be ring in on this too and help you some. She knows more about the Bells from Chester County, South Carolina than I do. My 3rd Great-Grandfather was William H. Bell, son of Valentine Bell. He was born about 1805 in South Carolina. His family came from Chester County so I feel sure he was born there as he lists South Carolina on the census records as place of birth. What year was your Nancy Bell born and married. I bet there is a tie in with our line of Bells but not sure. I know that William H. Bell did have an aunt with the name of Nancy. She was sister of Valentine Bell. I'm a descendant of Hance Hamilton and Nancy Bell of Maury Co. TN. Both are buried at Williamsport. Hance Hamilton and Nancy Bell married in Chester Co. SC, however several of their children and families kin to them moved to Dallas Co. AL. My direct line is from their daughter Lillie Hamilton who married Nathan Dungan. Several of their children moved to Dallas Co. AL... Descendants moving from Chester District SC to Dallas Co. AL were Walkers, Morrows, Wiley (Wylie), Kelso and Gill. David Hamilton, eldest son of Hance and Nancy Bell Hamilton married Mary Wylie and lived in Dallas Co. for several years. He returned to Maury Co. TN after the death of his wife. (Capt.) Rev. John Bell Hamilton (son of Hance and Nancy) raised a company of cavalry which became part of the Second Tennessee Battalion, later part of the First Tennessee Regiment. I have copies of many letters written to his wife Sarah Ann Alderson and also letters written by his adopted son Thomas Hamilton Williams. Names mentioned are many, some I can connect and some I can't...this possibly will help all of us. Rev. John Bell Hamilton made many trips to AL to visit relatives and also to procure needs for his men. I'm interested in the name "Lizzie" Walker whom he refers to as cousin. I have listed in Valley Creek Cemetery in Dallas Co. AL a James Bell b. early Chester Co. SC...no doubt related. Give me a minute to put this in proper order and hoping we all can share...if not will E-mail individually some of the information contained in these letters. A John Godwin is mentioned and can't find a relationship.
