If your ancestor was associated with Columbia, Maury Co., TN in 1864, then there would be a better chance for a connection. I suspect that a look at the 1860 and 1870 Censuses for Maury Co., TN would help. The only child mentioned was R. E.'s sister, Sallie. She should be in the 1860 Census with her parents.
