Greetings List I was at an antique show in Huntsville, AL and came upon a dealer who had Maury County items from the Old A.B. Sowell & J. P. Johnson family. Is anyone out there interested in memoriabilia on these families in the 1890-1930 times frame? Had many papers of these families who (Sowell's) were publishers of the Maury Democrat for a time. You'll have to answer quickly because the dealer will be moving on after tomorrow (weeekend show). Also he is asking a price on the items when most of it would better serve the public if it were in the Maury Archives. Things like a 1924 Corporate Tax Return on the Maury Democrat which list a bunch of people and historical facts. These items will be lost to hoarding collectors who only put a non-historical value it. Some of the things I saw: 1 Stock certificates owned by the Sowell family 2 Bank Notes to Maury Bank from the Maury Democrat. 3 Records of the Induction of Whos Who in America in 1943-1944 year for Honorable AB Sowell. 4 History of the First Baptist Church of Columbia - Small bit of writing to 1925. I bought this but don't really know how unique it is 5. Lots of Receipts in the 1890s thru 1940s I bought a few of the things but anyone interested in the bulk of this material let me know and I will detail out what is available. The dealer allowed me to copy a few of the materials with a Digital Camera and I can make that available for free.
