William and Wife Judy, two daughters under ten, Nancy and Malinda and two sons under ten, Abner and John. Later between 1820-1829, sons, Beverly, Aaron and James were born before the family moved to Sullivan Co. Indiana by the 1830 census. Aaron wrote in a civil War letter in 1865 while fighting for the Union Army that he fought in Maury County, TN "where they grew up". A biography of another Son, Thomas, mentions that Williams father was "coming from Scotland to America at a very early age". Judy died about 1840 in Sullivan County, Indiana. William died between 1870-1880 in Crooked Creek Twp in Ray County, Missouri. He was born abt 1794 in VA or NC. ______________________________ > ATTACHMENT part 3 message/rfc822 Date: 31 Mar 2003 18:51:45 -0700 From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [TNMAURY-L] Need help with the 1850 census, please This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0hB.2ACI/310 Message Board Post: I have a photocopy of the TN census index for 1850 listing the 38 persons with CHURCH surname. On this list are some females -- four of whom were in Maury county -- but they are not included on the copy of the Church families I have of the 1850 census itself. I am trying to learn the names of my ggrandfather's parents and siblings. Thomas Franklin Church was born 4 Dec. 1828. Two couples in Maury county on the 1830 census have a boy child under five: Arthur Church and William Church. I have found a marriage for Arthur -- Elizabeth Inman -- but I do not know who William married. An Elizabeth and Eliza Church plus Nancy and Susan Church are the females in Maury county who are on the index but are not on the census. I would greatly appreciated learning about these four ladies.
