Donna I think you are the map you are talking about is the D.G. Beers map of 1878 of Maury County. That is the census map of Property owners for 1876 by County published in 1878 I believe the project was completed for the whole country. That is the only map that I know of that details who lived where in 1876. It is not perfect though because renters were left out in favor of the property owner having a multiple listing. The map is on Gary Hoods' Maury County Resources Roots Web Freepages the URL of which is: <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genieresources/Index.htm"> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genieresources/Index.htm</A> The D.G. Beers map was done for all of Maury County and explodes the detail for Columbia & some of the villages. You'll need to look at it or download it in sections. It is too big a map to display in one picture. You can also order it from the Tennessee State Archives but the copy is not very good. I am told there used to be a copy of the Maury County map in the Court House (Archives now I guess) that was supposedly a good readable copy but I have not verified that. Wayne Austin
