Hey, Annie. I've had a lot of help from other people on this board too, and do appreciate it. There's a link to an alternate story of Nancy Hanks' parents on my site, under Hanks Pictures, I think. If you haven't seen it and can't find it let me know and I'll hunt it down. I don't think she was illigitamate, as some claim. I don't know of any DNA research on Hanks. Far as I know, Abe has no living descendants and had no sblings, so it would be impossible to prove that way. Far as I know, unless we dig up his bones, then it would be unlikely after all this time. Elvis Presley was a Hanks descendant. Tom Hanks, the actor, naturally. Many others. Did you know we were kin to Elvis? Worse yet, did I already tell you? I think there is a resemblance to Abe in Granpaw Elijah's picture, also on my site. Back then in Maury County, it was said that Elijah and Abe were cousins. It was said in Ohio and other states, so I think it is true. While I'm at it, I don't usually post family trees, but I did post descendants of Thomas Dodson and Elizabeth Rose, mainly because it makes almost everybody in Maury County and elsewhere kin.. It includes the Hanks from Granpaw Moses on down to my grandparents, and all the other lines I have collected from y'all. (Except for one descendant of Robert Williams and Elizabeth Hanks who never sent me any thing back. You know who you are, but I forgot who you are and don't know how to reach you.) Woolverton, Fitzgerald, Williams, Caughron, Haywood, Taylor, Walters/Waters, ever'body. Name it, we kin. And, I correct you on this because it is important. Somebody else called it that the other day. It is not Knob Hill Cemetery where the Maury Hanks are buried. It is Old Knob Creek, not to be confused with the new one not far from it, which is Knob Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, also called Knob Creek Cemetery, informally. Pictures of most of the stones in the old cemetery are also on my site. All of the Hanks who have stones are pictured. I'm going to post a separate message on that in case not everybody reads this one. It's important.
