Did the enumerator intend to write the abbreviation for James (Jas) and forget the s? Or did he write the initials J.A.? Where were they in 1900? This is crucial for me. If this man's name was James and is our relation, he died in 1882. His wife was still young, she probably remarried. By 1900, Fannie was old enough to be married, too.
