No Paulette, I went back and looked..I did not send a request to you. So Girl, you are off the hook!! No really, I must have hit a nerve with my email..Sorry!! I did not mean to get everyone so riled up!! I was no complaining, I just was asking if I was the only 1 that had that particular problem..I am sorta new at all this genealogy stuff, and maybe I am not going about it at all right..If not for the kindness of strangers online, I would totally not have gotten very far. I just get so hopeful whenever I find a site with volunteers..Then they never ever answer me back..Maybe the websites I end up finding are outdated...I don't know, but I just have no luck with volunteers..I am really sorry if I offended anyone..I did not mean it that way. I guess now I had better not show my face in Maury Co anytime soon inquiring about Koonces. I will probably be stoned!! Ha!Ha! I know all you volunteers are busy, and I do so appreciate you sharing your free time to help strangers like me! ..I totally applaud you for your sacrifices.. And Gary, I am made of lots tougher stuff than you can throw at me. I also have a life, and don't just sit in front of my pc waiting for email!! I guess because I did not answer all the negative messages that yall, yes I did say "yall" sent me, I am a coward or something..I just sat down at my computer & saw the response to my message. I totally appreciate volunteers, and I would gladly like to be one. I just have no records, microfilm, or books to share with anyone.. My husband is disabled, and my income is limited..I can only hope to find info on free sights. I am trying to do this genealogy for my grandkids, so hopefully 1 day they will know where they came from..Forgive me for bothering all of you. And no Gary, I did not email 2 people for the same question..Since you think I am not worthy of an answer from them, I guess I should not expect help from any of you again.. I was just asking a question, and all I expected was an answer..I thought perhaps I was not approaching the volunteer thing right...nothing more, nothing less..I do apologize to you volunteers if I offended you. I am truly sorry! I know you do a terrific service for everyone..My biggest find was through a volunteer..She was totally aware of how grateful I was to her..But Gary, the name calling was totally uncalled for..Like I said, I am tougher than anything you can throw at me..If it makes you feel better to put me down, then go for it!! I totally go out of my way to go to the libraries & do look ups for people and even go to cemeteries & take pics for people in other states. I feel I have been helped by strangers, so I do all I can to help others online..I would never dream of charging anyone for any of it..That is just me..I joined your group simply to try & find info on my ancestors..Obviously there is none to be found!! I'll just look elsewhere from now on.. Sorry.... Joan Morris
I agree we should drop it. I was a little perturbed, but since you said "sorry", all is cool and forgiven. I think everyone should be a volunteer of sorts, sharing their primary records for free at least. There are a lot of researchers out there who horde information and take it with them to the grave apparently. Then no one in their family gets the genealogy bug and the information gets lost. Shame. Sharing is the best way to break down brick walls and solve those ancestral puzzles, and the internet has become a great tool for sharing. Caution, however, needs to be exercised when using internet or any info by someone else. There's a lot of false data out there as well. I'm sorry for the backlash on your original post. Hugs all around for the Maury folks! -Mark Murphy Gggrandson of William B. Your kidding Joan? You don't sit in front of the computer waiting for that reply??? The first couple of times I asked for help for something I went crazy waiting for the answers!!!! Well, welcome to Genealogy.........and if you need help, hollar, don't know how to handle something......ask..........don't go leaving the group.......stay on, you NEVER know when someone else will show up with the answers to your questions.....the more you look though, the more people you find.....and the more find you........ And thank you for your look ups for others, I can't say that enough to people who do it. It is a great service! Have a great weekend, I hope you find some connections here sooner than later!
