My Robert ALLEN was in the Civil War, from Wayne County,Tn., his family moved to Maury County TN., about the time he left for the war, (1861) he ws in the hospital in Mississippi and I have sent for records as to what year he died. His wife was in the Maury County 1880 Census as a widow, 48, head-of -houshold. Her name was Sarah BRADLEY-ALLEN, she had 6 children when she left Wayne county, a baby of 1 year up to son of 10. She had to go to work as a housekeeper to keep bread on the table, and anything else she had to do. I have located some of my ALLEN kin in Maury County,TN., and Lawrence\County,TN., That generation of my people really never did overcome the effects of the war and most of the children were seperated. I cannot locate them after 1880 census of Maury. I do not know when Sarah died there are no records. THE OTHER ALLEN line The Robert ALLEN that I was referring to was married to Nancy Hanks (i believe) and Granville ALLEN was looking for a Robert ALLEN who was related from ALLENS in Alabama. Granville died over a year ago, and I was just wondering if this one might be the one he was searching for. Granville ALLEN has a book entitled "OUR ALLENS FROM MARYLAND TO MUSCLE SHOALS VIA THE MID-WEST". joyce Danielle <figurere8er@verizon.net> wrote: Name: Robert Allen SSN: 420-38-9018 Last Residence: 38464 Lawrenceburg, Lawrence, Tennessee, United States of America Born: 20 Mar 1930 Last Benefit: 38464 Lawrenceburg, Lawrence, Tennessee, United States of America Died: 16 Oct 1987 State (Year) SSN issued: Alabama (Before 1951 ) I found several so far Robert aliens. social security numbers so far, need more information to get something. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joyce Luna" To: Sent: Monday, July 31, 2006 8:14 PM Subject: [TNMAURY-L] ALLEN, WITHERSPOON, > Do not mean to interupt........................a good thing but needed to > ask a few questions. > > Seems that in the Old Historic Maury there was a HANKS lady who married a > Robert ALLEN, was he from Alabama or does anyone know his lineage. > > WITHERSPOONS ..........were they from Ky? > > I worked with a Kay DAWSON and her family was part of the ALLEN AND HANKS > line, one of her aunts had gone to Washington in the 1960's and had > information > on their connection witha the HANKS. > Kay was from Maury County, TN., I am not sure if it this connection was > on her > mother or father's side of the family. > > joyce > > > JOYCE LUNA > > --------------------------------- > Do you Yahoo!? > Get on board.
