Hi all, I haven't posted in a while, nor have I done much genealogy. Too dang busy. However, it looks like I'm going to get my once-in-a-lifetime trip to Maury County at Christmas time. As I'll only have one day there, I want to take pictures and be as efficient as possible with my time. I need some advice on the best way to get from Columbia to Culleoka (Glendale?), especially Pleasant Mount and the Cumberland Presbytarian Church where I believe William B. Murphey and his wife are buried in unmarked graves. Are there any hotels around there? Is that still District 5 by the old designation? What other things to see around there that are old? thanks, Mark Murphy ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program.
Hi, Congratulations on that trip. I sort of envy you. I was born there in the very area you intend to visit, and so was my mother. My grandfather helped to build the Presbyterian church on the corner close to Cully. Almost all my genealogy is centered in that neighborhood. Route 31 used to be a straight drive from Columba to Culleoka passing through Glendale. Since I have lived there, they have probably moved things around. Have a great time.
