Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh? That is where it gets interesting. My husband is a descendent of Sally Bugg Foster and her first husband , Thomas Craig. They were married on June 6th, 1872 and has Callie about 1875 and Jessie about 1877. Records show that Thomas Craig died in 1881 but that Sally Foster "married" Charles Knight in 1880. The 1880 census also shows that Thomas Craig was back living with his parents, Charles King Craig and Elizabeth. I contacted the Maury County Courthouse and they were able to tell me that Sally and Charles had recieved the papers to file for a marriage licience but that they never returned the paperwork to the courthouse. So...my father-in-law is now realizing that he is not a Knight but a Craig. It was pretty cool to find that out last year as we were living about 15 miles from the Craig homesteads and the graveyard where they were all buried. I hope that you can help me with this mystery. We are trying to find out what happened to Thomas Craig. Why they weren't together....how he died......and if there was a legal marriage between Sally and Charles.
