Surnames: Smith Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0hB.2ACI/300.1 Message Board Post: I'm not sure that the folks that you are looking for are any relation to my Smith family, but my 4th Great-Grandfather William Smith appears to have moved to Maury Co. in about 1800's with a son named Bazil Smith who was married to Martha (Hood) Smith. They came from South Carolina but lived in Maury Co. long enough to have had two children, William and Mary Ann Smith. They later moved to what was then Calloway KY. but was later to be Montgomery Co. TN. then it changed to Stewart Co. TN. Mary Ann was born in 1820 and William was born in 1822 in Maury Co. TN. I do not know the name of William Smith Sr's father or mother or wife for that matter. The way family's all moved together back then it is possible that William Sr. could of had his father or other brothers with him? My great grandfather was Dr. Benjamin Franklin Smith who practiced in Waco, Giles Co., TN. He was married three times and was murdered when he was 51. According to the Giles County Historical Society, he migrated from South Carolina with siblings whom nobody has been able to identify. Those of us who have researched this family have hit a blank wall with Dr. Smith. No indication of where in SC they came nor other members of the family.
