In 1850 their children were: James, 11, Jeremiah, 9, Harvey, 8, Newton, 7, Nathan, 5, Manerva, 3, Hugh, 1 and Dansilla Nichols, 31, living with them. I believe Dansilla was Alfred's sister. In the 1860 Maury Co. Census, Alfred is not listed, but another child Sarah , 9 is listed. In 1850, Green Duke is living next to the Nichols. Green Duke was married to Mary Exaline Nichols. They had a child, William, 2 in 1850, but Mary must have died before the census was taken. Ann Nichols, 62 is living with Green and Wm. Duke. She is believed to the the mother of Mary, Alfred, & Dansilla. In the 1860 census, Rebecca Edgior (sp) is listed with Eleanor Nichols. In the 1850 census, John Edgin's family is listednest door to the Alfred Nichols Family. The writing is bad and hard to read. I believe it is Edgin. Could Eleanor be an Edgin and Rebecca be her sister? Any information on any of these families would be appreciated. Carolyn
