Hayes' second wife was Susan Beard Moss. They married November 15, 1903, and had a son named Benton. I know that Susan had children, two sons, if I remember right, by her first husband. James was the middle son of Solomon Hays of Giles County. I still haven't found out what his mother's name was, but his stepmother, Solomon's second wife, was Nancy Rogers. Solomon and Nancy died in Franklin County, IL. My Hays information is sketchy in parts. Do you happen to know if Benton is still living? He or his descendants might be my only hope of ever filling in the blanks.
