David, I live in Jefferson City, MO where Drury Gooch, who married Patsy Whitehead, died in 1839. I know the local Whiteheads. As best I can tell Drury descended from James Gooch, son of William, son of Claiborne, who originated in Hanover Co., VA. I am interested in two apparent brothers -- William Spraggins Gooch, a minister, and Thomas Thweatt Gooch, a large-scale farmer. Their middle names suggest they were descendants of Rowland Gooch and Lively Thweatt of Caroline Co., VA and Granville Co., NC. Rowland's daughter Patsy married William Spraggins, and Thweatt is an extremely rare surname. Thomas T. Gooch appeared in Rutherford Co., TN by 1827 where he married Nancy Tennessee White, and he and William came to Maury Co. I don't believe they had any connection to Drury. Randy McConnell
