Wilkerson Barnes was a batchelor without any children, but he was very influential with the children of his relatives. The tie-in to the Pillow family was through the Thomas family. Two of Jesse Thomas' daughters married Pillows. Jesse's son Job Thomas married Wilkerson Barnes sister in VA in 1805 before moving to Tennessee to work with his brother-in-law. These two are buried in Zion Cemetery. Wilkerson Barnes had a large plot of land on the Mt. Pleasant Pike which he left to JWB Thomas (Job's son). It would not surprise me if Wilkerson used family members in additon to his slaves to work his land as was custom in that day..
