Thank you for your information, but I am not certain it is the correct PORTER family. William PORTER, Sr. left a will in Maury in 1840's, with wife Sebra who was a daughter of Thomas GOODRUM a RW soldier from SC, verified by his will also in Maury Co. The William PORTER mentioned in the will of William, Sr. is the one I am seeking. He married Charlotte TATUM (maiden name from family history, unproven), and by 1850 they had moved to Marshall Co., MS. There were several Porter families in the Maury/Giles area, and with the repetition of names, it is almost certain they were somehow related. William PORTER Sr. and his wife Sebra are buried at Porter's Chapel in Maury along with their son, John Nelson PORTER and a HOLCOMB(E) granddaughter. -----Original Message----- From: Demastus@aol.com <Demastus@aol.com> To: TNMAURY-L@rootsweb.com <TNMAURY-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Wednesday, December 30, 1998 11:05 PM Subject: [TNMAURY-L] PORTER >In a message dated 12/30/98 9:22:57 PM Central Standard Time, vhhighfi@gte.net >writes: > ><< PORTER, William >> > >Descendants of William Porter > > 1 William PORTER b: Apr 1866 in TN >.. +Lou Ada BINKLEY b: 24 Oct 1865 in Marshall Co, TN m: Abt. 1890 in >Campbell's Station, Maury Co, TN d: 5 Sep 1939 in Giles Co, TN Burial: Elk >Ridge Cemetery, Giles Co, TN Father: Martin David BINKLEY Mother: Mary >Emmaline CASKEY >. 2 Clyde PORTER b: Jun 1891 in Campbell's Station, Maury Co, TN >. 2 Emma PORTER b: Dec 1894 in Campbell's Station, Maury Co, TN > > >==== TNMAURY Mailing List ==== >If you hit reply to an e-mail posted to the list, it automatically replies to the list.
