    3. I recently looked up information for someone that found my tree at the Family Tree Maker site (www.familytreemaker.com/n/o/r/T-J-Norman/index.html ) ----- on the NOTGRASS family .... THIS IS NOT MY FAMILY , nor in my tree ------ but I thought that someone else on the list might be interested in the info ......... FROM "CENTURY REVIEW OF MAURY COUNTY, TENNESSEE 1807 - 1907" pg. 304 --- listed under the "McCain's and Bigbyville" area "E.T. Notgrass, b. October 20, 60, 4 m. south of Columbia, is son of Terry Cahal and Terza Notgrass. T.C. was son of Jas. B. and Harriet S. (Passmore) Notgrass; Terza was dau. of Geo. T. and Sallie J. Stone. G.T. was son of Obediah and Sarah (Starks) Stone; S.J. was dau. of Jimmie and Mary (Harris) Wisener. The children of E.T. and wife are Eva Jennings, Alta Lee, and George Cahal. Mr. Notgrass has a home and 21 acres 5 1/2 m. south of Columbia. He has been doing carpenter and contract work for the past twenty years." FROM "HITHER AND YON II MORE WRITINGS OF JILL GARRETT" pg. 132 -- exert from the newspapers following the Civil War "John W. Neely is building a new house near Bigbyville and Col. E.C. Notgrass is the superintendent." (August 1888) pg. 223 -- under "Columbians Recall D-Day, One Return for Reunion" "Wesley Notgrass landed on omaha Beach on D-plus-1 (meaning one day after D-Day). On leave from The Daily Herald", he was a medical corpdman. The beach was still littered with debris and equipment ---and the dead. "The battleship Texas was firing over our heads at the time, " he said recently." FROM "MAURY COUNTY TENNESSEE CEMETERIES by Fred Hawkins" -- there are many Notgrasses buried in Maury County --- I'll just list them --- if you are interested in the dates of any of them let me know........... Ulna Notgrass) 1896 - 1951 Old Knob Creek Cemetery (pg 183) Notgrass, Eliza E. (wife of W.T. Notgrass) 1858 - 1888 Etta J. (wife of S.E. Notgrass) 1870-1900 ?? two small graves beside Etta J., fieldstones Hughes Cemetery (pg 175) Notgrass, Sallie R. (wife of Pen Notgrass) d. 1934 -- age 78 Under death notices, pg. 175 ---- "Mrs. Emma Notgrass, died Wed., 75 years; mother of Penn Notgrass and sister of late J.M. Hughes; buried at Hughes Graveyard." (Columbia Herald 10 June 1904) Spring Hill Cemetery (pg 65) Notgrass, Ewell 1908-1908 ALSO ---- found a little more information in my tree----- Hattie Notgrass was married to S. Lee Neelley, their daughter Annie Lee 1905-1979 married James Clayton Gibson. I can not find a listing for Hattie and S.
