I am trying to prove that Simon BECKUM (died 1827 Maury Co) who married Mary RAY (died 1832 Maury Co) in 1798 in Orange Co, NC is the father of James BECKUM (1811-1882). Simon & Mary are definitely the parents of Stephen BECKUM, but I cannot prove the other sons who would have been minors when Simon died: James (b 1811), Alexander (b 1813), and William (b 1815) all born in NC, probably Orange Co.
