E. of Columbia, was b. on Cartr's Cr., Oct., 49, son of Henry and Martha J. Chappell. Henry was son of Reuben, from VA.; Martha, dau. of Reuben Smith. J. B. 1st mar. Eliza, widow of Jas. aMorton and dau. of John and Mahala Mckee. Their children-Fount E., near by; Evan P., Leslie B., at home. In 1891 he mar. Alice dau. of Nelson and Emily McKee. Nelson was son of Wm. and Liddie (Rankin) McKee; Emily, dau. of Andrew and Mary Rountree. Their children-Towler, Reuben, Mary F., Martha J., and Emma Virginia. Page 305 (McCain's and Bigbyville) J. L. Maxwell, b. Aug. 31, 43 near Nashville, brought to Maury Co. in invancy, is son of Jesse Agnew Maxwell, who was a tacher in Jackson Collere. J. A. was son of Solomon P. and Eleanor (Agnew) Maxwell, and mar. Ruth, dau. of Andrew and Jennie (Davidson) Neelley. J. L. Mmar. Saacie P., dau. of James G. and Susan (Chappell) Voorhies. Jamesw G. was son of Garrett L. and Saaie (Hunter) Voorhies; Susan was dau. of Dickie anfd Susan (Tinsley) Chappell, from Richmond, VA. Their children-Ida Lee, wife of Guy L. Zuccarello, of Pulaski, who have one child, Maxwell Z.; Edwin Leston diefd at age of 17.; Bessie is wife of R. T. Perry, who farms the Maxwell homestead of 54 acres adjoining Reece Church. Mr. Maxwell served 4 years in C. S. A. He has resided at his present home since 1880. Page 115 (Carter's Creek) Wm. W. McCormick, son of Col. Wm. C. and Dorcas (Irwin) McCormick, born in N.C., Feb., 1819, was brought to Maury Co. at 10 years of age, locating on the present site of Carter's Creek. He was a teacher at Spring Hill Academy in the 40's, later a broker, and owned 600 a. Wm. W. married a daughter of Sam'l Peyton Chappell, an early Virginian, pioneer of this county. Mr. McCormick's sons are L.E., of Blooming Grove, Texas; W. W., of Yochim, Texas; R. E. and J. B. on the Chappell Estate near Carter's. Page 310 (Around Columbia) W. D. Fraser, b., 1837, in Montgomery Co., Ala., is son of Wm. Fraser, who came to East Tenn. in 43, and 4 years later to Maury Co. W.' D. mar. Martha, dau. of Christopher and Martha (Chappel)[only one "l"] Harris, who came from N. C. to this section in 46. Their children are Barton, farming on Knob Cr.; Mattie, wife of Hugh Hendley, of Godwin; Emma, wife of Will Dodson, of Theta; and Humphrey, clerking at the Racket Store, Columbia. He was educated at Atherdale, and began merchandising at Timmons in 99, the following year coming to Columbia. The family has recently moved to Godwin.
