Surnames: Nichols, Duke & Edgin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/0hB.2ACI/533 Message Board Post: Looking for information on Alfred Nichols married to Eleanor (?). In 1850 their children were: James, 11, Jeremiah, 9, Harvey, 8, Newton, 7, Nathan, 5, Manerva, 3, Hugh, 1 and Dansilla Nichols, 31, living with them. I believe Dansilla was Alfred's sister. In the 1860 Maury Co. Census, Alfred is not listed, but another child Sarah , 9 is listed. In 1850, Green Duke is living next to the Nichols. Green Duke was married to Mary Exaline Nichols. They had a child, William, 2 in 1850, but Mary must have died before the census was taken. Ann Nichols, 62 is living with Green and Wm. Duke. She is believed to the the mother of Mary, Alfred, & Dansilla. In the 1860 census, Rebecca Edgior (sp) is listed with Eleanor Nichols. In the 1850 census, John Edgin's family is listednest door to the Alfred Nichols Family. The writing is bad and hard to read. I believe it is Edgin. Could Eleanor be an Edgin and Rebecca be her sister? Any information on any of these families would be appreciated. Carolyn

In the 1880 Federal Census, they are shown to be living in Marshall County, Tennessee, and to have two sons, Charles R.(born abt 1865) and James (born abt 1870). There may be more children, but I have not been able to find Aaron or Louisa in any later census records. I found Charles in 1900, 1910 and 1920 living in Williamson County, Tennessee.
