I do know that one of their sons, John Y., was born 8 Dec 1791 (supposedly in Richmond Parish, VA), so it should be before that. I do have a copy of a deed: "Solomon Perry Deed Executed by Sabry Tombs 26 November 1845 Registered 29 April 1846 Maury County, Tennessee" It starts out "I Sabry Tombs, widow Edmond Tombs of the county of Maury and the State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and twenty five dollars to be paid by Solomon Perry of the county, and State aforesaid, have bargained and sold and by these presents do transfer and convey unto Solomon Perry, his Heirs or assigns a tract of land containing one hundred and two acres and one hundred poles lying in the 6th civil district of said county, on the waters of Fountain Creek it being the tract where on the said Edmond Tombs resided at the time of his death...." So it's possibly that she sold their place in Maury Co. after Edmund died and went to live with her daughter Mary Smith over in Marshall Co.

Marshall County Tennessee was created from the following counties in 1838: Bedford, Lincoln, Giles & Maury Counties. Marshall County Tennessee has the marriage & probate records from 1838 in County Court Clerks office. Marshall County Public Square, Lewisburg TN 37091. This info came from THE HANDYBOOK FOR GENEALOGISTS, 8th edition. Copyright by Everton Publishers, Inc., 1991. These marriage records will also be at Tennessee State Archives, Nashville, TN. You would be amazed at how many Sarah Toombs there were. I did not find one in Maury County in 1850 but this is what I found in 1880. There are about 5 Tombs listed in Maury and more in surrounding counties in 1850. Can anyone confirm, deny, or shed any light on the following marriage record(transcribed from a copy of the actual marriage record)? Maury Co, TN; Marriage Record; Roll No. 119, Book 2, page 119 621 Robt C. Joice To Nancy C. Walker __ 14th 1842 Dec. I do certify that I did Solemnize the right of Matrimony between the within named. J. C. Spinks J.P. Even though the man's name appears to be Joice, I believe that these are my ancestors Robert C. Ivie and Nancy C. Walker for the following reasons: ~I have seen Ivie transcribed as Joice before, and the only Robert Joice I've found in Maury Co was 40-50 in the 1840 census with several children. I haven't found a Robert Joice/Joyce in Tennessee in the 1850 census (only John, Peter, William, P.H., & P.R.H.). ~On the other hand, Robert C. Ivie does live in the vicinity--he witnesses a deed in Marshall Co in 1842, has one child in school and is bondsman for a couple in Williamson Co in 1843, and is in Marshall Co in the 1850 census with wife Nancy C. and 4 children. ~Robert & Nancy's son John's death certificate gives his mother's name as Nancy Walker. ~On every census, Robert's wife is given as Nancy C. ~One of their sons is named David Walker. Does anyone know of an actual Robert C. Joice married to a Nancy C. Walker? Or better yet, of a Nancy C. Walker who married a Robert C. Ivie? Thanks. Sylvia
