I have seen several photographs that had the name: Young & Evans-Artists-Columbia, Tenn. written at the bottom of the photo. They were made probably in the early 1900's, but before 1929. Would anyone know about this photography studio? Would it still be in existence? If so, maybe the present owners would still have all the negatives from previous years. Possibly Young & Evans was bought by another studio and now goes by another name? Would anyone have any knowledge of the photography studio? Judy Sanders

Hello.....Just wondering if anyone can tell me about the conition of the two cemeteries listed above--which I believe are in or near Mt. Pleasant. Cross Bridges Methodist and Cecil Family Cemetery They don't appear to be listed on Wayne's website, unless I missed it, and I wonder if that is because they are too small, too family specific or possibly too un-kept-up to get into. I was hoping to get to Maury county this year to photograph CECIL-CROSS- and LANIER family gravestones [ In those two plus Lawrence, Hunter and Arlington Cemeteries] and also to look for other places where my husband's father lived and worked. But now , due to family problems it appears I won't make it there for a while. If these two Cemeteries are accessible and anyone there can photograph stones for me I would be glad to reimburse expense [ or reciprocate in Polk County Florida in early May] Interested, Please contact me at stephaxi@mindspring.com. Thanks, Steph Powell Cecil

Surnames: Hays, Hayes Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0hB.2ACI/550.1.1 Message Board Post: Hi, Sue. We definitely have a match, since my James P. Hayes' second wife was Susan Beard Moss. They married November 15, 1903, and had a son named Benton. I know that Susan had children, two sons, if I remember right, by her first husband. James was the middle son of Solomon Hays of Giles County. I still haven't found out what his mother's name was, but his stepmother, Solomon's second wife, was Nancy Rogers. Solomon and Nancy died in Franklin County, IL. My Hays information is sketchy in parts. Do you happen to know if Benton is still living? He or his descendants might be my only hope of ever filling in the blanks. My email address should appear with the post, but if it doesn't, you can reach me at b.collin@worldnet.att.net Concerning the cemetery, is it visible from the road, if you drive down Lewis Road or the Santa Fe Pike? That's as detailed as the map program gets, and it looks like a rough way to find a cemetery. I have next to nothing about Susan Beard Moss, but here's what I have on James' first marriage. Descendants of James P. Hayes Generation No. 1 1. JAMES P.3 HAYES (SOLOMON2 HAYS, SOLOMON1) was born February 15, 1837 in Giles County, Tennessee, and died December 05, 1921 in Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee. He married (1) ELIZA JANE SMITHSON December 27, 1857 in Maury County, Tennessee, daughter of HEZEKIAH SMITHSON and MALINDA LOCKE. She was born Abt. February 1834 in Tennessee, and died December 17, 1901 in Maury County, Tennessee. He married (2) SUSAN BEARD MOSS November 15, 1903. She was born 1870, and died November 15, 1956 in Maury County, Tennessee. More About JAMES P. HAYES: Burial: Sante Fe Public Cemetery, Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee Historical Note: Slightly erroneous information in a regional history book; gives his birthplace as North Carolina when he was born in Tennessee. Name Note: James spelled his surname "Hayes." Relationship: Nancy's stepson; Solomon's child by his first wife. More About JAMES HAYES and ELIZA SMITHSON: Marriage 2: Service performed by L.H. Timmons, J.P. More About SUSAN BEARD MOSS: Burial: Santa Fe Public Cenetery, Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee More About JAMES HAYES and SUSAN MOSS: Special Note: Their son and his children's names withheld. Children of JAMES HAYES and ELIZA SMITHSON are: i. JAMES BENSON4 HAYES, b. April 29, 1861, Theta, Tennessee; d. August 25, 1940, Maury County, Tennessee. More About JAMES BENSON HAYES: Burial: Santa Fe Public Cenetery, Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee Name Note: Listed as "Benson" on 1880 Maury County, Tennessee census. Has been written as "Binson," but a close examination of the census images resolves the question. ii. ANNA HAYES, b. Abt. 1865; m. HENRY SYKES. iii. LAURA NEOMA HAYES, b. Abt. 1867; m. W. C. STEVENSON. iv. MARY E. HAYES, b. Abt. 1870; m. J. L. CAUGHRON. v. MALINDA HAYES, b. Abt. 1872; m. C. A. CAUGHRON. vi. THOMAS T. HAYES, b. June 1875. 2. vii. WESLEY A. HAYES, b. January 1881, Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee. Child of JAMES HAYES and SUSAN MOSS is: viii. BENTON4 HAYES, b. 1906. More About BENTON HAYES: Name Note: May appear on the 1920 Census as "Everette.". Generation No. 2 2. WESLEY A.4 HAYES (JAMES P.3, SOLOMON2 HAYS, SOLOMON1) was born January 1881 in Santa Fe, Maury County, Tennessee. He married RUTH A. JACOBS February 23, 1905 in Maury County, Tennessee. She was born Abt. 1886 in Tennessee. More About WESLEY A. HAYES: Name Note: Appears on 1930 Census as "Wess."

Well, you are sending her out the new Sanny Fee Pike and didn't tell her how to get off on the Old Sanny Fee Pike, where the cemetery is. (Barbara, Maury natives pronounce it Sanny Fee. If you say it right you might get looked at funny.) You can turn off on Old Santa Fe Pike right after you pass, first Roberts Bend Road on the left at the top of a hill, then Tom Fitzgerald Road on the right. The Old Santa Fe Pike is the next, almost immediate, right turn. After you pass Santa Fe Diner on the left and cross Snow Creek, you are getting close. There are 2 roads going to the cemetery, so plan to miss the first one and take the 2nd. That's what I always do. It's better that way because when you loop around on the road to leave you are farther away from the top of a hill where some nut might come flying over it and run over you. Do not be confused by Roberts Bend Lane, before you get to Roberts Bend Road. Roberts Bend Lane is at the bottom of the hill. You'll see several other roads before the one you want, also named Old Santa Fe Pike. Most of them dead end. I looked at www.topozone.com and their maps show the cemeteries, but not the new road. Streets and Trips is useless too.
