This may help those researching the Kennedy line- I found this in the files of Rev. John Bell Hamilton and his adopted son Thomas Hamilton Williams: Information in the file states John B. Hamilton purchased land and house from William E. Kennedy. EXHIBIT D Will of Wm E. Kennedy I Wm E. Kennedy of the County of Maury and State of Tennessee do hereby make & publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all wills by me heretofore made. Item 1st My purpose for sometime past has been to manumit all my slaves. I have according by sent to Liberia much the larger portion of them. And I desire that all the slaves that I now have in my possession to wit: Jim (the baker), Jim Swift, Leysus (?), Stewart and Clara, be sent to the Colony of Liberia, if they or any of them choose to go, under the care and direction of the American Colonization Society, to be located in such portions of Liberia as they may respectively select: that their expenses thither be paid by my Executors- that provision be made for their support in that country for twelve months after their arrival; and that they be furnished with a good outfit of clothing & necessary tools & impliments for agricultural operations: all out of and at the expense of my estate. Should any of said slaves however be unwilling to go to Liberia my Executors are hereeby instructed to send them to any of the now shareholding states or Indian Territories they may choose to go to: and if any of them choose not to go to such state or territory, but wish to remain in Tennessee, I desire my Executors to apply to the Legislature of Tennessee to allow them to remain in this state & be emancipated upon such terms as said Legislature may prescribe. But in case said Legislature should refuse to comply with their application, then I desire my Executors to set a reasonable price upon each slave and allow him or her to choose a master and when said price is paid to my Executors they shall make a Bill of sale of said share to the purchaser. But inasmuch as my slaves Charles, Felix, Basbour (?) & his wife Selina have seen fit to leave me & run away to the Federal cause, I hereby expressly deprive them of and cut them off from all the provisions of this will made for the benefit of those who remain with and continue faithful to me. And in like manner I will and direct as to any of my slaves above named who may hereafter run away and leave me. They are not to have or enjoy any of the privileges or benefits set forth & provided in this will. But in case any of those who have already or may hereafter run away should reutrn either in my life time or after my death. I wish my Execurors to allow them to select masters & to sell them making Bills of sale as above stated. If my favorite servant Jim Swift shall elect to stay in Tennessee, then I do not wish him sold but my Executors will select a good home for him and set apart so much of my estate or they may desire necessary, in addition to his own labor for his maintenance & support, and to have him well taken care of in sickness & old age. Said fund so set apart by my Executors to be held by them in trust for the purposes aforesaid. I will & direct that like provision be made for Jim (the bakes) as for Jim Swift, in case he should prefer to remain in this state, I further direct my Executors to each of the shares I ???? possess (?) of the sum of one hundred dollars, always excepting those who have already or may hereafter run away from me, the former of whom are named above. Such as have or may run away from me are to have nothing even should they return. In settling up my estate no vouchers shall be required of my Executors for the money so paid to my slaves who remain faithful. Said sume are to be paid to them whether they remain in Tennessee or not and whether they are emancipated or not. Item 2nd I next direct aht all my estate real & personal wherever situated, not herein otherrwise disposed of, be sold by my Executors & converted into money; my real estate will be sold in a credit of one two & three years & my Executors will take notes for the same with at least two good & solvent securities, bearing interest from date & in that case they will of course demand and receive the same. Item 4th Afther the payment of my debts & after provinding for my slaves as aforesaid. I will and direct my Executors to pay over the following sums to the following persons in the order in which they stand to wit: To my nephew Neely I Greer the sum of fifteen hundred dollars: To my nephew William K. McConnell the sum of fifteen hundred dollars. To my nephew William V. Thompson the sum of one thousand dollars, my gold watch and library. To Mrs Weaver, Mrs Holman & Mrs Hill, daughters of my deceased sister Martha C. McConnell the sum of fifteen hundren to be equally divided among them. To Elizabeth J. McConnell, widow of my deceased nephew Felix G. McConnell, the sum of five hundred dollars. To my sister Hettie wife of R. H. McEwen the sum of fifteen hundred dollars. To my nephews James M. and Thomas Kercheral (?) the sum of five hundred dollars each. To the children of deceased sister M. T. Sanders the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to be equally divided among them. To each of my nephews William P. and Robt C. K. Martin the sum of one thousand dollars. I have heretofore loaned tot he Rev. A. A. Dook the sum of five hundred dollars for which I hold his note. If said note should remain unpaid till my death I direct my Executors to release said claim & to deliver to him his said note This is a long WILL- I will continue later, as I don't know where the cut off point is on an E-mail. I have no connection to these family lines, (that I'm aware of). Pat

The US map was really neat - thanks for sending it. Now I have a query. Would like to learn more about William Miller who was born 11 Aug 1823 and died 23 Mar 1859 perhaps in Alabama. He married 6 Oct 1849 in Maury Co. to Novaline Rebecca Polk. Their children were Mary E.P. b. 23 May 1851, Franklin A. b 4 July 1855 and James Campbell born 5 July 1859. This comes from a Bible record in my possession that was filled out by Novaline. Does anyone know anything more about William Miller or the Miller children? Thanks!

Dear Nell, I have never heard of the Old Giddens Stagecoach Cemetery. Where is it located? How did you find it? I do not even have a "Giddens" Cemetery liste in MAURY COUNTY, TENNESSEE CEMETERIES. I am always searching for ones that I missed when I was doing the book. Could it be located in one of the counties that border Maury County? I tried to list those that are within about a mile or so of the line but probably missed some. If you can give me some instructions, I would like to look it up. Another thought, could the cemetery now be known by some other title? A lot of them have changed names over the years. I can't begin to answer your questions until I know when to find the cemetery. Take care. Fred Hawkins.

Those two are for persons buried in the past 50 years. So, I guess you will have to look somewhere else. Unfortunately, many persons were buried in this county in the early years whose graves were never marked with inscribed stones. Hope you have more success in some other place. Lottaluck. Fred Hawkins
