    2. BOBBYE
    3. Hi Dianne and Linda, My gg grand mother was Mariah or Mary Jane Garner b@1841 and married Josiah Henderson Smith. Do you recognize her. I cannot locate her parents. They were in Maury and surrounding counties. The last lead I had on her was in 1900 in the household of my great grand father in Wayne Co. After that I don't find her. She was 56 yrs old at that time. My great grandfather died in 1912. One of Mary Jane's daughters was Mary Jane Smith Loveless wife of Senator Commodore Daniel Loveless from Maury and Lewis Co . But there is not any indication that she ever lived with them Bobbye Davis Bobbye@microsped.com

    1. [TNMAURY-L] Joseph DIAL (1778-1818)
    2. Joseph Dial enlisted 28 Sep 1814 in Capt. William Martin's company, Williamson County troops, discharged 27 Apr 1815. (Source: "War of 1812 Soldiers of Maury Co, TN" by Garrett) I am including a brief extract from a book I'm working on about the settlers on Factory Creek in Wayne County. Your e-mail had said Delilah Dial died around 1820, but a Delilah shows up in the 1850 census but apparently with children. Any clues? shrice@utk.edu (Shirley Hollis Rice) Joseph Dial Sr. married Elizabeth Cole in Williamson County, Tennessee, in 1806. She was born in 1790 and probably was the sister of Peter Cole, who later settled on Factory (see Cole family history). They had what some believe was another brother, Samuel Cole, who married Polly Dial, thought to be Josephs sister, and they settled in Lawrence County. Joseph, said to be of English and Scottish descent, died in Maury County in 1818, and James Dial was the administrator of his estate. The family moved first to Fortyeight Creek, but Elizabeth Cole Dial lived late in life with her son Joseph Ross (see below) on Factory Creek where she died after 1860. We assume one of Joseph and Elizabeth's sons had married a woman named Delilah. He apparently died before 1850 when Delilah was shown in the Wayne County census, living with "Mrs. Dial" on Fortyeight Creek, listing her age in the census as 45 in 1950 and 47 in 1960. They had: Franklin, who lived on Factory Creek for some years and then relocated to Lawrence County; Evaline, who lived with the George E. Huckaba family on the headlands of Factory in 1860; and Elizabeth Dial, who lived with Joseph G. Gallaher family in 1860.
