Can anyone help My Genealogy on the following Collins family of 1850 Maury Co Tn. John L Age 55, Wife Mahalia age 45. On page 1415-686 Maury Co Tn 1850 census. Any info appreciated. Trying to find my family for Thomas J Collins and Mary Thomas. Thanks, Claude
Folks, I just recently received information from a new found cousin. She is of the same generation as me. Our grandfathers were brothers and our two families had not interacted since the brothers had been dead for over 50 years. It was a great find for us both. She has pictures of my grandfather that my own father had not even seen. Here is some of what she had to share on our Connelly line. Does anyone see connections with this information. Charles Connelly ----------------------------------------------- Dear Chuck: I was so excited to see that someone else is researching the Tennessee Connellys. I am convinced that most of them are connected. My ancestor was John B.Connelly who was a resident Maury Co. in the 1840 Census, but was recorded (in a deposition for a John Connelly's Rev.War Pension App.) as being a resident of Bedford Co.at the age of 54 in 1846. In 1850 and 1860 the Census shows him living in Marshall Co. John B. was born in 1792 in N.C. and married Catherine Lovesey in Lincoln Co.,N.C. in 1828. Children were: Elizabeth 1831 Emiline 1833 John 1835 Charles 1839 Julia 1841 Jane 1843 Hetta 1847 Twin to William William*** 1847 William was my great grandfather. Emiline was buried at the Smith family cemetery in Maury, Co. William was born at Leatherwood Creek which is on the edge of Hickman and Maury Cos. I have two lines, Connelly and Conley; Abraham Conley (bn 1826 Va.) a coppersmith in Nashville was my 3-G grandfather, He seems to have connections with Jacob and an older Abraham (who is in Knox Co. in 1840 then living with Jacob in Hickman Co. in 1860) I have contact with people in Camden, Tenn. who are descendents of Eli W. Conley, who believe he is the brother of my John B. They used to go to Nunnlley to visit Conley relatives and my Grandparents went there to visit relatives also. My two Connelly lines come together when Abraham's Grandaughter Jennie marries F.M. Hassell of Little Lot, Hickman Co.Then their grandaughter Ethel Lou Hassell, marries William L. Connelly's son Robert Bibb Or "Bee"as he was called. The Connellys were of Irish descendent, of course, and mostly bricklayers. If you can make any sence out of my ramblings and you think there could be any connections at all, please let me know. Kay Murphree
To the researcher for Daugherty, Do you happen to have a Robert, Kary ann or Nancy Daugherty same area. Thanks Maybe they are related to your John. Sincerely Dani

Hi Bobbye, I do not recognize the names you gave me, but that doesn't mean anything. Have you by any chance, checked the 1850 census for TN, for a Garner family living in those counties that had a dau. by that name? I will check next time I go to the library, but not sure when that will be, maybe one day next week, or maybe even Sat.. I would just suggest checking the census indexes from 1850 on trying to find a dau. her age and that name. Also, you can look if you know, at names of any of her children, that might give you a lead on parents first names, as she may have named some after her parents. If you would like, when I go to library next time, I will check the census index in 1850 and 1860 to see if I can find her and who she is living with. Hi Peggy, There was a D.V. & Veo BURKS living here in Dallas until the late 80's & are buried here. They came from the Valley Mill, Bosque Co. TX area. They have a dau Carolyn Hall in Richardson & Pat Berry in Ft. Worth. Veo & my Dad grew up together & I know she did some genealogy in past years. The dau aren't too interested but they have the information & have gone to some reunions around the Midlothian, Ellis Co area & had Burks farm land there at one time. I will call her tomorrow if you like & tell her this & send you her phone # privately. They don't have internet, but their son living close does have.
