    1. [TNMAURY-L] Scott / Pickens /Crawford /Bryant / Henderson
    2. Does anyone have information on Cawsby Scott and his wife Jane Anderson Pickens? They were both born about 1800 and lived in Maury County. They had children (otherwise I wouldn't be here) including possibly a son or grandson named John C. Scott. I have a letter written by John C. Scott, dated 1924 (the year my grandfather died) and it lists the first names or last names of a lot of relatives including CRAWFORD, BRYANT, and HENDERSON, but seldom in full with the exception of Jane Anderson Pickens. I can't figure out if John C. Scott was my great grandfather or a brother of my grandfather Walter Marcus Scott. Walter had brothers who's names were Maury Scott and Morton Scott and a sister Catherine Scott. I am really searching for Jane and Cawsby's children's names, but other info will do. I did pick up the name Cawsby from a family tree on the net. My uncle (still living) Haslem Cosbie Scott knew he was named after a relative but wasn't sure who. The tree had many similarities to the names in the letter, but it showed no children for Jane and Cawsby. I believe they were married 9-13-1822 but have no proof of it. Again that was info from another tree. Thanks for any help. Caroline

    2. Ruth Ann, Cathey's Creek is south of the Duck River while the Gaskills and the Cathey family you are interested in lived north of the River near Snow Creek. In fact, there is a branch called Gaskill. The Catheys of Cathey's Creek are pretty well researched; John Cathey who lived near the Gaskills is not. Good luck, Bill Timmons

    3. Hi Mattie, I do have a copy of another researcher's composite data-base that includes a number of people's work. It lists a Riley TIDWELL, said to be the son of a James TIDWELL (about 1805, Dickson Co., TN - 1868). But this Riley is listed as the son of James, born in 1806, so there's an error somewhere in that. I have James married to Elizabeth Jane BERRY in 1858, so maybe James is the younger one, don't know. Edmund TIDWELL, Sr. and his son Edmund, Jr., probably moved to Dickson Co about 1809 as I have it, but I'm far from clear about these TIDWELL families. Would really appreciate any information you might have, especially about ancestors who were in South Carolina in the time between the French and Indian War's end in 1763 and the middle 1800s. No Ruth LONG in my stuff. If I just sent you this in response to another inquiry, I apologize. getting tired I guess. I know many families stayed in the area and have descendants still living there. 3. Hi Betty, Yes, I have two TIDWELL brothers, Silas (1805-1864) and Benjamin (1807-1864), both married to MEEK women (Don't know if related). Both men died on September 1, 1864, perhaps in a CW battle, perhaps from some other calamity. I have Silas' wife as Rachel MEEK (1804-1888, married 1826) and Benjamin's wife as Lucinda (married in 1830, no b or d dates). I have Rachel as the daughter of a Joshua MEEK, but have no info about him. I'd be especially interested if you know any of the story of these folks, or other details about them. I have the brother TIDWELL's paternal ancestry back to the first TIDWELL in Virginia in 1656, if any of that would be of interest to you. I can only imagine what the storm is going to do to Montgomery County researchers. About Taylorsville, it was a small community on Cathey's Creek. There used to be a couple of businesses and a school there and perhaps a grist mill. Like most small communities of this nature, it has almost disappeared from the map. About the Lawsons listed in Census records, I have the 1870 Census and find the only J. and E. Lawsons I find are: Lawson, J. 28M B Wrks. Farm TN " , E. 20F B Kps House TN The "B" indicates that these persons were black. They are listed in the Hampshire/Cathey's Creek area of Maury County. I don't know whether or not this info helps you or not. There are several other Lawsons listed in the county in 1870 but the other names do not match those you are looking for. Lottaluck. Fred.
