I went to that web page and it was for the Arlington National Cem., not the one in Maury Co., Shelia
That is all the information, I have. I got it from a marriage index. Mike.
In 1820 Joshua Fly (son of John FLy/Sara Trader) married Sarah Jane Blackburn. They moved to Yalobusha Co, MS in 1824. Also in 1820, William Blackburn (brother of Sarah Jane) married Sarah L. Fly(sister of Joshua), They were in TN at least until 1831. Children born in TN, Martha C., 1831, James Carpenter1829, Sarah Jane, William Trader and possibly Mary Ann. The family moved to MS by 1840 where David Murry, Thomas Ervin and Sarah Elizabeth Reed were born. By 1846, the family was in Texas with Martha, David and James C. It is possible that Sarah Jane married Samuel C. Gilespe in 1839 in MS> Looking for the Tennessee parents of William and Sarah Blackburn who married into the FLy family in Williamson/ Maury County in 1820. Any clue as to which BLackburn family it might be?? The Fly family lived in Maury County at Leiper's Creek.
Mike: This could be the same. I don't know the name of John S. WADDLE's wife. What info do you have? All I know is tht he is in the 1820 Maury Co. Census with wife and 9 children, and he witnessed deeds with James K. Polk in 1814 and 1817 in Maury. His name is in notes on Inventory of Jethro Brown in 1820 and in Inventory of Samuel Polk in 1829. >>> <MarieBiggs@aol.com> 1/31/99 1:23 PM >>> Is this the John Waddle that married Rebecca Sevier 26 Feb 1795 in Washington County TN? Its been awhile since i have been there and I have been told that they have remodeled and it is larger. Henry Allen was caretaker there in the 1960's and his wife was in the living quarters. Does it include the Sullivan, Lampley, Mangrum, Beard Cemeteries of Dickson Co. or is it only for Maury Co.? How are you doing Fred? It has been a while, I hope things are going better for you. Wanda L.

Rattle & Snap recognized with historical marker By Melissa Hodge Beard/herald staff writer Passers-by on the Mount Pleasant Pike can catch a glimpse of a new historical marker at Rattle & Snap. The marker is the newest addition to a number of historical markers at various locations throughout the county. The marker is located across from the plantation. According to Liz Lovell, assistant director of the Maury County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the marker was obtained through efforts of Maury County, the Maury County Historical Society and White Star Consulting. Lovell said the markers are important to detail the history of the homes and locations. "People enjoy reading the markers, and it's a great way to learn the history of each location," Lovell said. Lovell said for a marker to be erected, the Tennessee Historical Commission must vote in the location's favor. "Research must also justify the request," Lovell said. Amon Evans, the historical home's owner, said the markers are helpful to tourists. He said they enjoy reading the markers and learning about locations which are historically significant to the area. Evans said historical markers, like the new one placed across the street from Rattle & Snap, help residents recognize the treasures here in Maury County. Other locations of historical markers include the Ewell Farm, President James K. Polk's boyhood home and Columbia Military Academy, just to name a few. For more information on historical homes and locations throughout the county contact the Convention and Visitors Bureau at (931) 381-7176.

MarieBiggs@aol.com wrote: > > Fred, > > Can you tell me what type of information is included in the Cemetery Book? > > Marie > > ==== TNMAURY Mailing List ==== > Please remember to include your SURNAMES in the SUBJECT Line. Dear Marie, The cemetery book is really a two volume set with 860 pages, soft cover. The information is divided into geographical regions of Maury County and I tried to list every cemetery in the county and in neighboring counties within a couple of miles of the boundary line(there are more than 450 of them listed). I included all inscribed stones that were found and also noted where stones had been found by the compilers of the book THEY PASSED THIS WAY but which could not be found when I was at the site. Since I had access to many other sources of information, I tried to include items from Death Notices, obituaries, etc. when this data indicated the name of the cemetery where the person was buried. I also included short biographical sketches for many persons when that information was available to me without too much researching. Then I added many short articles, as fillers, about persons, places and events. I did not list the cemeteries for Afro-Americans due to time and size restrictions. The index lists surnames only since to do an everyname index would have required almost as many pages as the main body of the book required. There are also maps showing the location of each district and each cemetery. My maps were later adoped by the County Planning Board for purposes of marking cemeteries on property plats. If I am not being to immodist, I will say that MAURY COUNTY, TENNESSEE CEMETERIES has been one of the most important and most widely used books by Maury County researchers and continues to be so. I still have a limited number of them available at $45.00 (includes postage) and they may be ordered from Fred L. Hawkins, 509 Pawnee Trail, Columbia, TN. 38401. Thanks for asking about them. Lottaluck. Fred.

This is my Lawson and McNabb ancestors. Anybody know anything about any of these? Gene in Clarksville, TN. Brooks and McNabes live close to or just inside the Maury County, Tennessee line. It was told to me by my mother that she heard that John came home from the war (Civil war?) with a McNabb man and he later married his sister, Elizabeth. The children are listed below: 1.John Riley Lawson born May 27,1867, some say in Kentucky??, but no proof, Died March 7,1950 at Lewis County, Tennessee, Married June 30,1898 at Lewis County, Tennessee to Louisa "Lou" Jane Hensley. She was the daughter of James Milton Ballard, Jr. (born December 25, 1836 in Maury County and died September 6, 1902 in Lewis County) and Mary Elizabeth Runion (born May 5, 1836 in Maury County and died January 30, 1926 Ellis County, Texas).
