Dear Claude, I find no reference to this cemetery in MAURY COUNTY, TENNESSEE CEMETERIES nor in THEY PASSED THIS WAY, a former listing of the cemeteries in this county. With the passage of time, place names were changed and oftentimes the old name was not strong enough to withstand the changes. There is not cemetery in the county, at the present time, that has the name Dunlap in it. You would do better, probably, by looking for the names of the persons you are researching. Lottaluck. Fred Hawkins.

That does not mean that there should not be a record because we have run into a lot of this sort of thing. During the two hundred years of its history, Maury County has sought to preserve its records. However, not always was there a "guard at the gate" and from time to time documents did disappear. We are trying now to get them together, perserve them in a county archives, and place the material on a database that can be used by all. I am sorry that nothing showed up for your ancestors. 1. Re: [TNMAURY-L] JOHNSON
    2. Peter Johnson was the son of RW vet Abner Johnson (1757-Oct. 22, 1850, Maury) and his wife Nancy Brackett (c. 1760-1852, Maury). They were married in Rockingham, Co. in 1783 (per pension app/no local record). Both Abner and Nancy were born in or near Amelia Co., VA. They moved to Davidson Co., TN (then NC) by 1793 and by 1810 to Maury TN. Many, many children. Biddy Mobley was Elizabeth Mobley. Peter's brother Abner Jr. married Elizabeth's sister Mary. Abner and Mary moved on to Christian Co., MO. Several Mobleys married into the Maury Co. emigrants (many families) there, and in fact, I went to school with Mobleys. The name Peter came from Peter Massie, the emigrant before 1700 to New Kent VA. His granddaughter Margery married Benjamin Johnson of Hanover VA, and their son Gideon Sr. was Abner Sr.'s father. The name is Peter Benjamin Johnson. Abner and Nancy are my ggggg-grandparents. Randy McConnell

    3. If you look in the book "A History of Hickman County, Tennessee" by Spence. Current copies are published by Southern Historical Press. This book has a lot about John Gordon, Dollie Cross Gordon, Bolling Gordon, Powhatten Gordon, & Louisa Pocahontas Gordon. As you can see from the names of the children the Gordon's claimed to be decended from Powhatten & Pacahontas. Lousa Pocahontas Godon married the Confederate General Felix K. Zollicoffer. One of their decendants has traced their accestry to Pocahontas. The LDS Library has the book. I'll look for the obit on Dollie Gordon from old Maury County records, and post it later. † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † † Robert C.
