Dear Marian, Unfortunately, Mrs. Garrett died about three years ago. She gave her files, library, etc. to the Maury County Historical Society and it is housed in the Maury County Public Library. With her going, Maury County lost its most gifted, dedicated and active genealogist. Lottaluck. Fred Hawkins.

    3. I'm sorry. I don't have anything on Wilsons in TN in that time period. My batch all moved to AR and MS by 1839. There may have been some left behind, but I don't have anything on them. 3. Dear List Members: Does anyone have any mention of the followings surnames in any of their Maury County references? Also, does anyone know or know where I could find out, if there is another Maury County in the USA? I am looking for the following Coons: Lauria [multiple spelling-Laura, Louise,Laurella, etc.] COONS [multiple spellings-KOONS, KOON, KUHNS, COONTZE, KOUNCE, etc.] born in Maury County, Tennessee, circa 1813, father John COONS. She married David WILLIAMS [born circa 1809 in Montgomery County, Kentucky] on Oct 28, 1832 in Montgomery County, Indiana. They had at least two children - Nathan Jefferson and Rebecca Justine WILLIAMS. They moved to Illinois, then possibly to Iowa. Unfortunately, I have no other COONS or any other reference to Maury County. Lauria Coons has also been documented as Lauria JACKSON COONS. I do not know if this a middle, maiden, or married name. The parents of David WILLIAMS [father -Nathan, mother - unknown] were supposedly from Virginia. Thank you in advance very much for your help! 1. Re: [TNMAURY-L] Re: Ms. Jill Garrett:
    2. I also corresponded with Jill Garrett for several years, and last year I received a note from her husband that she had passed away. I felt then and still feel that genealogists and family search lost a valuable friend. Her husband indicated that the family had discussed giving her research papers to the Library. I am not sure whether they did in fact do this or not. Her family would more than likely respond to any inquiry you want to make to them. I hope this helps. Amadhan@aol.com
