Did Jill Garrett have any children or grandchildren? I found out that we might have common ancestors, and therefore, she might have the info I am seeking, but was just informed of her untimely death. If anyone knows whether or not her children or other relatives are involved in family history, could you ask them to email me. Sincerely, Alex, researching: Shelton, Hodge, Northern, Pickett, Moore, Alderson, and Clear --families who lived in Columbia Tenn in the 1800s.

Dear Abby, I have always wanted to have my family history traced, but I can't afford to spend a lot of money to do it. Any suggestions? Sam Dear Sam, Yes. Run for public office.
I am Ron Massey, a new subscriber. I am a descendant of Sarah COLE's second marriage to William J. BLAKE. Her first marriage was to Stanford Jopling in Maury County 5 Dec 1826. After the birth of three children, Stanford Jopling died 1836 or 37. Sarah went to Marshall County, MS where she married William J. BLAKE. Does any of this look familiar? I am interested in any information you have and am always glad to share. Thanks, Ron Massey Shreveport, LA

They do not have a genealogist on their staff and the other ladies are too busy to do any "look-ups", etc. They would only send you letter to me or to some other member of the Historical Society. If you want to send me your query, I'll try to help, if I can. If I can't, I'll tell you so. Lottaluck. Fred Hawkins

Send your check for $45.00 to Fred Hawkins, 509 Pawnee Tr., Columbia, Tn 38401. I will be happy to ship you the two volume set right away. By the way, the price includes postage. I surfed through your website. Congratulations. It is a great family history. I am from Gaston Co., N.C. and worked for three years in Cabarrus Co., N.C., so I know some of the Furrs of that area. It has been many years since I had any contact wtih them however. Take care and lottaluck. Fred.
Rick, I live in Texas. The best money that I have ever spent in genealogy was purchasing these books. I got mine at the READMORE Book store, but Fred will mail you one. Nell Powell Thomason
