I don't know what the Zion group is. Is this the group that came from SC in 1807? My line is Sarah Webb b. abt 1810 in Va. Married to Charles W. Holden b. 1809 NC. They lived in Rutherford County in 1850. She was deceased by 1860 and the family then shows in Maury Co after that. Several of their daughters married Cathey's, Garner's and Liles, who are all cousins along with the Curry family there. -----Original Message----- From: Janice McMurry [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, January 08, 2003 9:30 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNMAURY-L] Family names Cathey & Webb Were they in the Columbia, Maury Co,Tn area? If anyone connects with this lady, please contact her. Mark -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Thank you Date: Sat, 04 Jan 2003 20:09:30 -0800 From: arob414 <[email protected]> To: [email protected] I just wanted to write and thank you for your site. I am Amelia (Parmelia) Murphy's great granddaughter. I am a Roberts. My father named me Amelia, but my mom named me Gale and I go by Gay. My father has been dead for 26 yrs and his dad since 1965. As a teenager, my father told me I should talk to my grandmother and learn about our family. He told me once she was gone, there would be no one to tell me. I didn't listen and I am now trying to learn about my family. My mother's side is fairly easy. I am from a West Tennessee county and her father's family settled there in the early 1800's. Several people have done alot on that genealogy. And, someone else has traced her mother's family to middle Tn in the early 1700's. However, because we lived in W. TN and the Roberts and Murphy's were from Middle TN, I really had no idea where to start. I have only in the past two yrs learned they lived in Maury County. Out of boredom, I tried another search, this evening and was delighted to find your site. Being another "Amelia", I have always been interested in my great-grandmother. Your site has given me lots of information. Thank you, Gay Roberts
Thanks, Irene. . Joel Medcalf/Metcalf was born about 1808 in North Carolina and migrated to Maury Co. He married twice to my knowledge. First wife appears to be Mary (1850 census; Maury Co., Tn.), second Susan (1860 census; Maury Co., TN; born in Ill.). Children by Susan were William Wallace Medcalf born about 1857 in Maury Co., TN and John Medcalf born about 1858. There may have been a son Jim as well. ANY marriage, death or census records other than 1850 or 1860 census would be MUCH appreciated....at a deadend here. jan
