    3. There is a Rose Hill Cemetery in several of Tennessee's counties, including Maury Co. On GNIS website at: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form it is shown in the eastern central section of Columbia, off Cemetery Road. Good luck to all in your research. 2. Frank D. "Denny" Thomas
    3. Don, I just saw your post. Fred has the list, but it's a widely published set of books. I would imagine that the KC or STL libraries might have a copy. Of course the best action would be to contact Fred which I know you're trying to do. As for directions to the cemetery, I don't know street names, but can give directions based on landmarks. I've made so many trips there I could probably drive it blindfolded and my directions will seem like I have. Highway 31 runs north and south through Columbia. If you go south on 31 and turn left at the Columbia Herald building the cemetery will be about 1.4 mile down this road. The road more or less dead ends into the rock wall surrounding the cemetery and if you bear to the right the cemetery entrance is 100 yards down on your left. There is a caretakers shack there, but I've never seen anyone there although I'm sure that someone is there from time to time. As for the Judge and his wife, if they died during the last 1800's till the late 1900's then there's a pretty good chance that this would be his final resting place. Hope this helps, Denny Thomas TNGENWEB Host for Maury County TN http://www.tngenweb.org/maury ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, January 25, 2003 6:46 AM Subject: [TNMAURY-L] Where is Rose Hill Cem? > 1. 1. Re: [TNMAURY-L] Cartersville, Tn
    2. Don't have any historical knowledge but it is located very near the Hickman County Line on what is today Highway 50. Today's map (Delorme Mapping 1992, 1:150000 scale) shows it very near the Fattybread Branch whereby its plains provided bottom land for farming and a source of water long ago. I am sure this spawned the initial settlements. Fattybread Branch feeds south into the Duck River about one half mile downstream. My guess is that the branch (stream) name is historical. No one would name a stream that today (well except me). Boy, I would love to know the story behind that naming. Anybody out there know? Wayne Austin

I had given up on anyone responding but for some reason today I decided to do a search and found your reply. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I agree with you about Bird & Snow being family names. When I told family members his name was Bird Snow Hale they laughed and couldn't believe it. With a name like that I thought it would be easy to track him down - WRONG. I have (13) all the issues of THE DELTA from the Mississippi County Historical and Genealogy Society. My husband, Dennis, has scanned them into our computers and if you don't have them I will send them to you. Do you know if the Society is still operating? I am a member but haven't gotten a publication for well over a year. I will send you my line of the Hale's and look forward to getting any information you have. I am a 3rd great granddaughter of Bird Snow and Martha Dyer Hale. My husband and I have made several trips to Osceola and Blytheville to do family research. Is the photo of the Hale children from THE DELTA? I think I should close for now for I could go on all night with questions. Hope to hear from you soon.
