    3. Pat, Eva Meyer may be ring in on this too and help you some. She knows more about the Bells from Chester County, South Carolina than I do. My 3rd Great-Grandfather was William H. Bell, son of Valentine Bell. He was born about 1805 in South Carolina. His family came from Chester County so I feel sure he was born there as he lists South Carolina on the census records as place of birth. What year was your Nancy Bell born and married. I bet there is a tie in with our line of Bells but not sure. I know that William H. Bell did have an aunt with the name of Nancy. She was sister of Valentine Bell. I'm a descendant of Hance Hamilton and Nancy Bell of Maury Co. TN. Both are buried at Williamsport. Hance Hamilton and Nancy Bell married in Chester Co. Several of their children moved to Dallas Co. AL... Descendants moving from Chester District SC to Dallas Co. AL were Walkers, Morrows, Wiley (Wylie), Kelso and Gill. David Hamilton, eldest son of Hance and Nancy Bell Hamilton married Mary Wylie and lived in Dallas Co. for several years. He returned to Maury Co. TN after the death of his wife. (Capt.) Rev. I have listed in Valley Creek Cemetery in Dallas Co. AL a James Bell b. early Chester Co. SC...no doubt related. 2. Although I have for sometime been searching my Bell, Neely, and Carter lines in Maury Co., I am also a Walker. My gr-gr-grandfather, James Gilmore Walker was in White Co. AR in 1850, but he was b. in TN in 1811. We think he married a Gwinn. I know the Walkers in Maury Co. had connections in Arkansas. Does anyone know of any links to James Gilmore Walker? I would love to share information I have. E. Walker Myer, [email protected]

All I know for sure is that my gg-gm was Nancy Walker, born in TN (probably Maury Co.) in abt 1822 and she died by 1850. She married Thomas D. Jennings in Marshall Co. in 1838 and they moved to Greene Co. MO. I show her father as James and Martha Walker, both born ca 1794 in NC. I base the relationship on the census records for the county in the appropriate years. Thomas Walker is the only other likely candidate based on the census. I have copies of the Walkers from Maury Co census summaries for several of these years if that would help you. Does any of this click with you? I'll gladly share what I have on Nancy and her descendants. I've told you about all I have on her parents...... Jim Terry, House Springs, MO

    1. [TNMAURY-L] BUTLER - TUCKER Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph taken at the O.L. Hensley Studio in Jonesboro, Tennessee, likely in the 1890's or early 1900's. A portion of the paper backing has been damaged so the first names are somewhat difficult to read. The first appears to be John or Jack BUTLER age 6 years and the second child is identified as Charley or Harley E. TUCKER age 7 months. The two boys are probably related in some manner, in fact they do look alike. I'm hoping that someone can be located from their families so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [TNMAURY-L] Fw: Campbell Graves
    2. Ginny Keefer
    3. Subject: Campbell Graves I recently posted a story about Campbell Graves and the children of his two marriages on TNGILES site. I also posted the children and grandchildren of Leonard H. Graves line as I believe he is Campbell Grave's brother. I also believe that Campbell and Leonard Graves were sons of John Graves and wife Ann Campbell. The children's names from all three of these men are the reason for my belief. Since no Bible has ever surfaced for proof we have little to use for proof. Ken Graves has been the Editor of Graves Family Newsletter for many years. He is sponsoring an ambitious DNA project to try to separate the many Graves families trying to see whom they each descended from OR whom they did NOT descend from. I have a cousin, several times removed, in Athens, AL with the surname of Graves. He descends from Campbell Graves and his second wife, Mary ___. He and I shared the cost of having him give a DNA sample from a kit sent to him from Ken Graves. The cost of this DNA kit is $160.00. It may sound high until one considers how expensive they are normally. I would like to suggest that those families with the SURNAME of Graves and believe they ARE descendants of Campbell Graves from either of his two wives, chip in and share the cost so no one is hit too hard. Have one male whose surname is Graves submit the DNA swab from the kit and all share in the cost of $160.00 total. You may contact Ken Graves at [email protected] When he receives the check for $160.00, he will send the DNA kit to whomever is chosen to give the swab and return the kit to Ken. This will not tell you exactly who is in your line down through the ages but it will tell you what line your DNA matches if enough submit for them to be sure. At this point, there is only one sample submitted, Terry Graves, my cousin. For those who did not see my posting on the TNGILES site, these are the people I am working on; John Graves born abt 1775 NC, died before 1820 Giles Co TN census when his wife, Ann Graves, is shown with 8 children at home. We have waited many years and have had many researchers and nothing has surfaced to allow us to climb this tree any higher. This is a fine opportunity to see what happens. We already know what happens when we do nothing. Ginny Keefer
