    2. Which White Family will you be working on? I am trying to find the parents of a Katie or Josie White who died in 1895 in Maury Co and is buried in Spring Hill in the Jamison Cemetery in an unmarked grave. She was married to John Wesley Jamison s/o of John William and Elizabeth Jamison/Jameson. Thanks for your help. 3. Irene, I don't know if anyone told you, but Jean passed away last Wednesday night. Dad finally got her daughter and two grandsons down to see her on the Monday before. She acknowledged that she recognized her grandson Danny. When I was there on Saturday, she was medicated and as far as I could tell, did not know anything regarding her surroundings. We are having the funeral on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Durant. 3. According to Carolyn Reeves Ericcson's book, Curry Cousins, the earliest known Curry she documents is James Curry Sr. of Pittsylvania County, Va. circa 1725 and she indicates that the Curry's likely were of Scottish descent. I do know that there was a line of Curry's in Chester Co. SC, headed by Samuel Joseph Curry, in the mid 1700's as my Liles line came to Maury Co. with many other Chester Co. SC settlers of Maury Co. Tn. and I have come across them while researching this line. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 1:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [TNMAURY-L] Carrigan, Darnell, Lipscomb - Maury Co TN 1849 Yes our Currys are related and we have written each other. When some of the family left TN I believe they went to MO. Children married in TN were Linea D. HELM m Elizabeth HICKLIN (my g grandfather) Dec 21 1815, Mary HELM m James DONALDSON July 11, 1816, James HELM m Jane BURNS Oct 30 1823, Hiram HELM m Susanna QUILLINS Oct 9, 1816, Malichi HELM m Elizabeth PORTER May 8, 1814 and William HELM m Cynthia STUART Feb 12, 1827. Hopefully these names will ellicit a response from a descendent in TN, as the MO Helms and the CA Helms, and all those in between have searched for years without success. The sons of Linea D. HELM and Elizabeth who came to CA were Harmon T., Wiliam Johnson(Joseph?), Chatham E, and Linea D Jr. Others came but did not stay. They came in 1850 Gold Rush

    2. My gt gt maternal grandmother was Martha Francis Carrigan (8 May 1849 Maury Co TN - 5 Apr 1889 Evant TX) She married George Henry Curry on 10 Jan 1869 in Maury Co TN. His parents were James Curry III and Elizabeth Runnels Garner. Family 'stories' say that the Darnells and Lipscomb were related to Martha Francis Carrigan. While researching my Curry/Garner line, I received a Letter from Monte Hugh Knight, dtd 23 Sep 1995 to M. Tanner. NOTE: The Carrigan/Darnell - Lipscomb aspect is of another section of the (Maury) County; that of, the extreme opposite side (in location)...mideastern to south-eastern Maury, in close proximity to the Maury/Bedford [later Marshall] Counties line. The Carrigan line was allied with my Griffin line of the old 21st & 24th Civil Districts area - north of Duck River. Darnell & Lipscomb <French Huguenot: Les Comb> have to do with the area of Maury Co, which, was taken (1836) to form the new County of Marshall-which, then, separated Maury, from Bedford (TN). Looking for connection with the Curry/Carrigan marriage.

    3. I believe that your James Curry III was a brother to my paternal GGG Grandmother Rebecca Curry m. William L. Liles. Their father was James Curry Jr. of Maury Co. and earlier of Pittsylvania Co. Va. Their mother, Margaret (Peggy) was also a Garner. Other Garners from the same Virginia line of Garners married children of William L. and Rebecca Curry Liles. Both the Curry's and the Liles lived just northeast of Hampshire in Maury County. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 8:39 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [TNMAURY-L] Carrigan, Darnell, Lipscomb - Maury Co TN 1849 My gt gt maternal grandmother was Martha Francis Carrigan (8 May 1849 Maury Co TN - 5 Apr 1889 Evant TX) She married George Henry Curry on 10 Jan 1869 in Maury Co TN. Can anyone give me a summary of what's in the will, who the Executor was, etc.? Matthew is said to be buried at Ebenezer (Reese Chapel) Presbyterian Church in Maury Co. and his wife Celia is said to have joined him there some time after the 1860 Census. Can anyone tell me if there are dates for them, and if there are other Cunninghams or Griffins in the same cemetery? They had at least one son, William J Cunningham, who married Adeline S Harris (17 Sep 1847) in Maury Co., and they had one child, Adeline, in the 1850 Census of Dist. 8, Maury Co. I've been unable to locate them in later censuses. Does anyone know what happened to them?

Mary Whitehead married Philemon Perkins ca 1767 and died around 1826 in Pittsylvania. > My Whitted/Whitehead family came to Maury County from Orange County > North Carolina. The Perkins family that Mary Whitehead married into were from Bedford/Goochland VA and moved to Caswell NC in the late 1700s. Caswell borders Orange on the north. I suspect that Mary Whitehead's father Joseph is the Joseph Whitehead of Bedford/Goochland whose land ended up in Campbell VA. I have just started to look at these Whiteheads so don't have much more info on them. Mary had a brother named James Whitehead. There was a Joseph Whitehead in the 1790 Chatham NC census, just to the south of Orange. Ed
