Just found this: Bedford Co. TN http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~khopkins/GdspdBedford.html "A full company was furnished by Bedford County to the war of 1812, which company was present at the battle of New Orleans. Among the members of the company whose names have been preserved...John Murphey..." I don't know if this was John M. Murphey, son of Nathaniel G. in Maury Co. with estate found at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7Efreshnup/markmurph/text/2.1.14M.txt May also be related to the John Murph(e)y in Pittsylvania Co. records late 1790s, or not, as there was a John G. Murphy there with land transaction in 1814. Confused? So am I. Don't care? Sorry, someone might. -- Mark Murphy

This from a book about Early Middle Tennessee marriages. I am looking for an Elizabeth Sanders, born in Tennessee, who married John W. Rodgers, born in South Carolina. They married 10-10-1824, location unknown, then were in Monroe County, Mississippi. In 1850 census, Elizabeth Rodgers and her children, Alfred Aaron, Mary Jane, Saphronie, Hugh M., William J., and Sarah A. were living in Lowndes County, Mississippi. What happened to John W. Rodgers? Elizabeth and her children moved on to Pontotoc County, Mississippi, then her grandson, Wesley Rodgers and wife, Lucy Sanders moved their family to Arkansas in 1918. Does anyone know of the parents of this Elizabeth Sanders? I have 3 Sanders grandmother who married 3 of my Rodgers grandfathers, and I know nothing of these grandmothers. I am in this county looking, because my Elizabeth was born in Tennessee, but I don't know which county and I am just following someone's suggestions.
Thomas Lashley/Lasley married Catherine Pickard, I believe that Thomas was brother to my gr gr grandmother Peggy Lashley who married Thomas Whitted Jr. in Orange County NC. Looking for descendants or persons with info on these families. Thomas and Peggy Lashley Whitted were living in Mt. Pleasant in 1850. Thomas died in 1851 and is buried in Hunter Cemetary. Does anyone have death and burial info on Peggy? David Whitehead [email protected]

Mark Try the following link it has a lot of good info. http://www.cob-net.org/docs/brethrenlife_migrations.html My family came here from Orange County, NC in the early 1800's. They seemed to have stopped in the Knox County area before coming here. Do you have any info on Murphey's who married Whitteds in Orange county? David Whitehead [email protected]
Listers, I am needing proof that Thomas Whiteside b.6/1766 SC and died 12/22/1825 in Cathey's Creek, Maury Co., TN is the son of Hugh and Margaret Lusk WHITESIDE of South Carolina. According to a fellow researcher who has Hugh's will from SC, Thomas is not listed. So does anyone have any "proof"-letter, Bible record, ANYTHING to prove this connection? Your help is greatly appreciated. You can email me at [email protected] Thanks! __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Interesting! I wonder if the Mt Pleasant Civil War play-out includes the story of the murder of William Fine Coffee a Lieutenant for the C. S. A. by the so called Guerillas as he was minding his own business on a porch of the R. R. Depot in Mt Pleasant during 1864. Great-Great Nephew Wayne Austin

I'm trying to shore up some info or fill in gaps. Trying to find when my Wm. B. Murphey exactly moved to Maury/Marshall co. He married Mary Benton around 1829 or 1830, but no record found. They were living there before 1840, but probably not in 1830. He came from N.C., she from TN. My guess is they were living in a surrounding county prior to this. Anyone researching Bentons in counties surrounding Maury & Marshall? Anyone have a good general idea of the migrations around 1820s & 30s from north central NC to middle TN, like what counties they generally gathered in first in TN? Thanks -- Mark Murphy
